I picked up some Blazer Brass 9 mm ammo (brass case) from Natchez at a good price. Today I shot about 100 rounds and I noticed significant muzzle flash with each round. I'm talking about enough flash to make me flinch after each shot. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this with this ammo? I've got a 1000 rounds of this to go through, and I'm not looking forward to it.

I use that same ammo in 115 gr in my Ruger LC9s with a 3.1" barrel, don't have any problems with muzzle flash. Are you shooting at night or low light levels??

This was at an indoor range, that is not that well lit where you shoot from, so any flash is noticeable. What made the muzzle flash from the Blazer ammo really apparent is that I had brought along 4 different kinds of 9 mm ammo to test this new gun with, and none of the other brands of ammo had anything close to this bright of muzzle flash. I loaded one mag with alternating rounds of all 4 brands of ammo, and you could always tell which one was the Blazer. The guy shooting beside me even commented on it. He thought I was shooting some funky reloads.

If nobody else has noticed this, I'm guessing maybe I just got a bad batch of ammo. I'll try and get a video of it next time I go to the range, because it is pretty spectacular, at least from the shooters perspective.

I think your way too concerned. Muzzle flash is simply the result of the type of powder they're loading those cartridge with. When I run Longshot powder in my 9mm loads I get a good muzzle flash with it, different powders produce varying levels of flash and recoil.

It's just the powder they used in that particular lot, that's all. And if your not having any real issues, such as split case mouths, or pierced primers, excessively flattened or cratered primers, there's nothing to get worked up about.

No problems other than the flash, but this flash is bright enough in my dimly lit indoor range to be a distraction every time I fire a round. I figured it was probably a different batch of powder as the cause. I've got 1000 rounds of this ammo to go through, so I'm hoping that not all of it is this bad.

Of those 1000 rounds, it's possible that a different lot number of it may have been charged with a different powder. You'll just have to shoot it and see.

The only other option, is if you reload, or know someone who does, they could be pulled them down and then the components could be reused, the bullets, primers, and brass, then use a different powder, a less flashy type could be used to load them.

Other than that, there really isn't anything that can be done. The manufacturer isn't likely to replace them, as nothing is really wrong with them.

Yea, I'm going to shoot it. I do reload, but it is not worth all the effort to pull all those bullets. I'll just close my eyes when I shoot it. :neener:...............I'm probably more accurate that way anyhow.
