New (to me) warning on Blazer Brass Ammo

So today I was out doing some running around and found some Blazer Brass .40S&W at a reasonable price. I get it home and for whatever reason flipped the box upside down. On the bottom of the box there are two warnings that I have not seen before.

1. Not for Law Enforcement use- ok I get this one, Blazer Brass is meant as a target/ practice ammo so likely does not go through the same quality control standards as a premium round. No surprise here.

2. Do not use in Firearms with ported barrels or ported recoil compensators. - This I have not seen before on ammo. Is it due to just being a dirty round that will gum these things up or is there a safety danger with running this ammo through a ported gun. Now my .40 is not ported so its not an issue for me but would love to know the reasoning behind the warning.

CCI says: Blazer Brass is loaded with a protected-base FMJ bullet.

This could mean they are using a plated jacket bullet similiar to the Berry or Rainier plated bullets.

May be an issue with the softer plated bullet deforming in the ports and stripping off jacket plating, which then become projectiles.

But I'm just guessing!

Copper plating would be an interesting explanation here. Wonder if thats the explanation or if something else is going on.

Hmm still no definite answers maybe I will call CCI in the morning and see what they say.

Just a thought... they could be using something that resembles a cap that's inserted on the base to reduce any vaporization of lead or some such.
If so, I suppose this cap could become detached from the base of the bullet once it leaves the barrel (or enters an enlarged port area) and could thus run the risk of impacting the bore if the diameter decreases.

Again, just a thought.

Blazer bullets I recouped from the bottom of my pool(testing, testing) were all TMJs. Perhaps they changed manufacturing process since then?

And Speer TMJ's used in Blazer ammo are plated bullets.

They are...at least sometimes.

A friend from Tennessee comes to visit and shoot about 3-4 times a year. He stocked up on Blazer Brass in .45 ACP back before the ammo crunch. I noticed that some of it was loaded with jacketed bullets...and some was loaded with copper washed lead. If ya look close, you can spot it. The plated bullets have a grainy surface.

I just bought a case of 9mm 115gr FMJ Blazer Brass from Wideners and there is no similar warning on these boxes???
