Muzzle showing or hidden?

Recently I bought several holsters for my G3c, some owb and some iwb. All of these have the muzzle of the gun about 3/8" or so up inside the holster. I recently went to a sale and they had some Desantis leather but not molded specific holsters that were good shape and cheap $8 each and frpm what I can tell are the dual carry one's. From what I can come up with using the numbers is they fit the Glock 26 or something close. When I put the G3c inside, the muzzle of the G3c is up inside about 1/8" and the recoil spring end is right at the end, not sticking out but just about even so with some wear the end may slip past the holster bottom. How do y'all feel about the muzzle not being hidden? I feel better when it's hidden and may not use these holsters but they are comfortable and as of now the muzzle is even with the bottom. Thanks

I prefer the muzzle to be covered by the holster. I don't like banging the muzzle on stuff, particular arms of chairs when I sit down.

I also prefer to buy holsters specifically designed for the gun I'm using. I have several hundred dollars tied up in a pistol and my goal is to protect it with the holster. Spending the money on a holster that is designed to fit my gun is worth it to me.

The more of the gun that is covered without obstructing access to getting a good grip, the better.

I find that protecting the pistol is only one benefit. Keeping the metal of the pistol from chewing up furniture (or car finishes when getting into/out of vehicles) or banging loudly against things when you are carrying are other real benefits.

Always hidden for me. It gives more protection and a muzzle sticking out of a holster looks like you were to pinch-penny to buy the correct one. ;)

I've only had one holster that had the muzzle exposed... and I didn't really care for it. It just seems the potential for damage is too obvious.

Yaqui Slides, belt slides and a lot of horizontal shoulder holsters that are pretty expensive leave a portion of the handgun's muzzle exposed. And aren't we talking of concealed carry?

Do you really worry about someone spotting the bottom of your holster with an exposed handgun muzzle thinking that you are a "penny-pincher?"

Damage of what? The handgun's muzzle? How?

Seriously?

Have a holster like the Yaqui Slide... and go and sit in a few chairs, or in a vehicle with the seat belt fastened. Granted, it depends on each individual's use case... but I've seen enough bumps and bruises on my close ended holsters to know the pistol muzzle is vulnerable. You do you...

Um, yeah, okay. What kind of chairs are you sitting in that will damage the muzzle end of a holstered handgun? Or vehicle with the seat belt fastened, for that matter (I've a lot of experience with this, actually).

Good for you. As I said... you do you.
Good to know that I've been doing it wrong for more than 40 years. Although, I've never managed to damage the barrel, slide or frame of any handgun I've carried holstered with the muzzle exposed. Curious, that...

Concealed, IWB...zero concern for any potential of cosmetic damage to my carry gun. IF I was worried about that, I'd carry something I wasn't worried about. Far more risk of my pistol causing damage, should it become exposed to painted surfaces or interior trim of a customer's vehicle. If truly concealed, nobody should be able to see an exposed muzzle. If open carrying, grip areas, external hammers, mag wells, etc...are gonna be more vulnerable than muzzle or crown.

Like you, I've found holsters for other guns fit my Taurus pistols well, but will sometimes leave the muzzle poking out. Usually they are ones I've bought inexpensively, either clearanced out online, or from the "box 'o holsters" that several nearby gun shops have. When I bought my PT145, I found holsters for the SIG 220/225/228 series guns fit it quite well, and these same holsters fit the G2C I carried for a while also. The first holster I bought for my Gx4 was right from Taurus' online shop, but I've since found Hellcat holsters fit it like a glove.
As for open end/muzzle past the the leather/kydex, to me personally it's not really an issue.

My preference is for covered but it's not a bad thing to have a versatile holster or two on hand for a pinch when you have to make something work.

I saw no mention of that, re-read the OP and still didn't. It was inside/outside and that could be either concealed or open.
It would be both, concealed in town both owb and iwb. Open carry where I live in a rurals area and out hiking, owb most times there.

I buy really good holsters for my more expensive guns.

The polymer guns, I buy good but cheap. My favorite was by Frontline Holsters or of Israel. But they discontinued the model. Guess I'm glad I have two.

I've found 1791, Galco and Desantis work well for me. Have a few Mernickle as well, I like to support a local company

In the spirit of transparency, I don't typically use any handgun holster that doesn't provide full coverage. I don't care for barrels/muzzles protruding from the bottom of a holster. I do use a Yaqui slide occasionally for a 1911 (when hiking mostly) and I do have a couple holsters for the SIG P-365 where about a quarter/half inch of the barrel is uncovered if I use them for the 365 XL. My usual carry holsters are all horsehide Kramer Belt Scabbards (OWB pancakes) that cover the barrels/muzzles completely.

But really, I just believe fussing about whether part of the handgun sticks out of the bottom of a holster is much ado about nothing. Rick Grimes approves of this message.

I do my best to not let the weapon get banged up if I can help it.
With that said a quality holster with great coverage is my normal.
