I bought this Auto Ordinace from a friend over 20 years ago for $175. I realize it’s not a high end piece but it was reliable and fairly accurate if you held off low and left.

I’m not a pistol guy so I rarely shot it, but recently I picked up a CZ75 that my wife shoots now. That got me thinking about my old 1911 so I took it to the smith and had it cerakoted, replace the main spring and install some fiber optic sights.

From an investment standpoint it may not make much sense, but I think it came out great and with the upgrade on the sights I’m hitting what I’m aiming at!

Now I’ve ordered dies so I can reload for it.

That Cerakote looks really good! Having sights that allow you to actually aim has always been a big plus in my book. Good job.

Nice pistol. Looks good and Im glad it shoots well a well.

Auto Ordinance 1911s can be good shooters with a little TLC. I bought one in the early 1990s. It shot ok. After a while, I changed the sights and installed a quality, but used barrel and turned the gun into a great shooter.

Looking good, especially with the new Cerakote finish and sights! Money well spent!

I have one just like that except I kept it stock. It shoots very well with round nose bullets and Lee TL452-230-TC bullets but chokes on SWC's unless they are seated to the perfect length and even at that, still chokes about once every other mag so I simply avoid SWC's.

It holds a special place in my heart. It was the first gun I used for reloading and the first gun I cast bullets for.
My first batch and my first target using those bullets. This profile feeds the Auto Ordnance as well as the round nose bullets do.

Glad you have had good luck with yours. I bought one in 1987, and besides being a jam-a-matic, the rear sight fell off after 150 rounds!

If it's a shooter, you have to factor in usage value. The improvements you made are going to be used, every time you
shoot it. You can't always calculate a gun's value merely thru resale price.

That’s a nice looking pistol. The refinishing was well done.

I like the old school look of the auto ordinance 1911s. Never had an opportunity to buy one, I just don’t see many in this area.

Let no one tell you otherwise: If it shoots good, it is good.
