So guys here's my 224 valkyrie build near completed, I am going to be working on a full camo paint scheme as time allows but my parts list is

hera cqr stock
anderson lower
anderson buffer tube
Anderson fcg jb enterprise trigger springs
Anderson detents/springs strike enhanced lower parts kit
Ambi selector switch
Upper has a square forge marking
Cheap hand guard(will be replaced down the road)
20" PSA stainless 224 valkyrie barrel and bcg combo, currently waiting on thread protector, I do know I need the hera insert for my stock just havent received it yet
With that being said I am ordering 1 space to adjust my l.o.p and possibly an adjustable comb kit but I dont think I want to go that far, it's my first ever build from just parts and I'm hoping it will be a shooter.

My Scope is a bushnell ar opticsc223 3-9x40 so I'm guessing the mil dots will be off but it can be figured out

Pat, it's not too bad considering it's a budget build(under 600 out the door) I'm certainly excited to give it some time shooting at the range

How's that HERA stock? I've heard reports that they were cheap feeling, but haven't held one myself. I live in a free state so have no use for one, but I thought out of the options that some are faced with, it seemed the most logical and nicest of the bunch.

Nice looking rifle, let us know how it shoots. I've heard a lot of conflicting stories about the Valkyrie.

Is that a BDC or mil-dot reticle?

The reality is that neither is going to match 100% with any rifle. Ammo velocity, weather conditions, scope height, barrel anomalies, etc. all contribute to variations in point of aim to actual impact.

The best thing to do is shoot the rifle with the load of your choice over a chronograph to get a good idea on the velocity. Never trust the velocity that is printed on the box of ammo.

From there you can calculate a drop chart with 50 or 100 yard increments, as well as Mils or MOA values, then see how those correspond to the reticle. If the reticle is a SFP (Second Focal Plane) it is probably 1:1 at 9X. The scope manual will show the increment values of each hash or dot on the reticle, probably in MOA (Minutes of Angle). You can compare that to your drop table.

Drop tables can be created online at JBM or Hornady's website, or you can download Strelok or a similar app for your mobile device. The latter is the way I do it as it gives you many tools to get an accurate result.

So, I've been shooting the federal american eagle and it shoots fine considering it's not a bench rifle, consistently 1" and not very often anything over 1.5, I like the hera but it is kind of cheap feeling, I dont like the comb of the stock so as seeing how it is a target/varmint oriented build I'm looking at making my own adjustable comb from kydex, it seems rather easy. In my humble opinion I'd like to get into reloading, however for as often as I shoot and the type of ammo I'm shooting whether its 224 or my 5.56 ammunition in 224(unless you buy the match ammo or varmint) its $8.99-10$ a box so I can buy a couple cases from target sports for $90 each and be good for a summer and the same thing in my 5.556 my only real stipulation is I want brass cased ammo, and fmj bullets arent horribly inaccurate so the $6.88 american eagle works just fine
