I used to have an '06 pump just like that. It was a great little gun but I traded it off when Ruger came out with the 10/22 in 1964. Winchester had several nice .22 pumps, I also had a Winchester 61 .22 WRF, hat was a great little .22 though a bit expensive for a lot of plinking. I always meant to get it rechambered for .22 magnum but ended up trading it off.

They seem like not fired very much. For me, a 22 rifle is IDEAL for weekly plinking. Its common for me to shoot 2,000 or more rounds per year.

I've had good luck with these semi-auto rifles:

- Squire Bingham model 20

- Stevens model 62

- Glenfield model 60

The .22 has become the most common firearms in my safe and they accompany me to just about every range trip.

-Sig 522

-Henry H001

-S&W K-22

-S&W 2214

mmm I think I need another

I've owned several S&W kit guns in the past but ended up trading them off. You might want to be careful posting complete serial #s. Forums such as this are highly monitored by "you know who".

I have a sibling of your 34 (misidentified by the gun shop where I bought it as a 17 and shamelessly underpriced):

I like the other two also.

That should be shamefully, not shamelessly! I'm jealous. It's a flat latch too!

To the OP, nice set. I have a 34 and a Winchester 1906 too. Great guns.

I had a Winchester 1906 pump. It was the first rifle my grandson shot when he was 6. He's 16 now. I will never forget the first time I took him shooting. there was me, my daughter, my son-in-law and the boy. We were picking up and my SIL started to pick up the Winchester. I told him no, the boy shot it, he can carry it out. We 3 were walking to the truck with the boy in the middle, holding the gun straight up. He looked at his dad and said, "Dad, when I get grown up, I'm going shooting everyday!" That has always stuck with me. I gave him the rifle when he was 7 and he still has it. He also hounds me all of the time to go shooting. Snow is still on the ground and he asked me when we were going shooting. :)

I recently moved out in the country where I have alot more time and land to shoot on. What do I most often take out to the field, my .22's of course. My son and I have already burned up most of the .22 ammo I had on hand.
Nothing will ever replace the .22 for anyone who loves to shoot.

Excellent collection. Everyone should have a 22 in their collection. I have the Model 61 Winchester pump and it is the rifle Grandaddy taught me to shoot with. My Wife loves it and someday I hope to teach my Grandson with it.
For serial number info on your 1906. Search "Winchester Serial Numbers" and you'll find some sites. My guess is your 1906 was produced in the early 30's, but once you search you'll find that most searches only go to serial number 708259. One sight said there were large groups of serial #'s skipped so they did reach 848000. Good luck,
Mike
