I finally got one after about two years of considering it. Its used, but for GP-100, that just means its worn in. One of the Canadian tapered barrel CAI imports. Took it to the range with a friend and put about 75rds of .38 special and 18 rounds of winchester silvertips(I'd shoot more, but they're damned expensive!). The .38s did as I expected with their low low recoil, but I was surprised to the recoil of the .357s. Or should I say, the LACK of recoil. I really couldn't tell too much difference from that and shooting .38s out of an S&W airweight. Trigger spring is a wolff rather than factory, and the trigger is very good. I love the balance the 3inch barrel gives it. Its going to break the bank shooting it as much as I want to. Now I need more 3inch revolvers... An SP would be nice, handled one the other day. Maybe one of those nice 686plus in 3inch. Pity the 8shot smith doesn't have a 3inch version. At one time bud's guns had some 3inch S&W bodyguards for around 500. That'd be fun too. If I reloaded.

congradulations on your find !!!
the 3' cai are being snatched purty qwik!!

one way to save $$ shooting is to reload & if you have time lee precision can get ya going as cheap as anyone & i still use my challenger press for reloading chores!!

Having had a CAI reimported 3 inch GP100, I agree they're great to shoot. Having held both however, I think the half lug 4inch model gives a little better balance (for me).

I almost got a NIB speed six in 2.75 inch barrel. But I told the guy not to wait for me to get the cash together. By the time I could it was gone. Only 450 too... I'll never find a good deal like that again.

I have the 3 inch GP, its the only .357 mag revolver I have. I prefer fixed sights on revolvers and that was my choice over the 4 inch GP. I just fire 38's only.

i just bought a 3" blued GP100 from a local gun shop. Love the way it feels in my hand and can't wait to try it out. Pick it up Monday.:)

May I suggest that you look at the GP100's daddy...a 2.75" security six.

+1 on that. i have one and it would probably be the last pistol i would sell. put some Rem 158gr LSWHP +p in there (FBI load) and there is almost no recoil. Built like a tank.

I need a good holster for it. Thinking about one from El Paso, one that does either cross draw or strong side. I'm also seriously considering sending off the cylinder to be cut for moonclips. Possible on my jframe too.
