We all know the recent events in Europe perpetrated by Muslim extremists. We also know that Muslim extremists aren't just in Europe.

Friends, this is my answer:

As an American, it makes me proud that I can not only post this (#freedomofspeach) but I can also OWN this (#2ndamendmentftw. My heart soars when I think about the right that we have as Americans, and how blessed we are to live in this great nation. There is unpleasantness afoot in the world, all over the world, to say the least. It is a wonderful thing that we as Americans can take up arms when they are needed. Most of you reading this probably feel the same.

As gun owners and as AMERICANS, we should all unite. I'd love to see your "answers" too. :)

Estot vigilans.

Take care everyone!

In the spirit of the "effectiveness" of gun free zones, here's my suggestion.

I'd love to see your "answers" too.

We had this discussion before and the majority of members concluded that their answer was to not change anything about what they do or what they carry. A carry gun on you trumps anything stuck in a trunk.

A backup plan in the vehicle is OK, but I agree with hso, what you actually have with you is the most important thing.

I typically carry an n frame of some sort with a reload, and a backup either .38 or. 357 snub. Along with my buck 110 hunter knife, I am not preparing to go in all out war here in the US I already went through one in Afghanistan, I think a lot of people have this fallacy that they are going to stop a group of BETTER armed assailants and possibly better trained, your main objective is or at least should be a defensive role, not engage in a losing battle.

A look at the tape where the terrorists held armed police back gives one an idea of what they might face once it gets started and fully involved. It damn sure ain't no picnic.

Being willing to try to stop a horrendous act like this is only the first step.

Especially since, if you can get to your vehicle, there is a better chance of fleeing. In the rare event of barricades or overwhelming numbers, a backup weapon in a vehicle is rather pointless.

My carry hasn't changed at all and probably won't. Carry on body. Spare magazine. Pepper spray, mostly for wild dogs near home. And a knife, more as a tool than defense. No car armor plating or rifles or stow away pistols.

My answer is to see far into the future, like Nom, and avoid the conflict altogether through snark-magic.

I dont know . I work in a school, and it is a "Gun Free Zone" :mad:I find myself wondering what would happen if something brown and stinky hit the fan:confused: .I always have a leatherman tool and knife, and flashlight on my preson. I cant really carry a pistol I know that somewhere along the line it would be spotted .:uhoh: In the maintenance department I have to move around alot and it would be nearly impossible to pull off conceiled carry.:cuss: I have thought about stashing an equaliser in the truck, but as another poster on this thread said if I could get to the ride, why not just boogie out of the danger zone. so I am sort of stuck without a gun at work. any good ideas?

...events like a terrorist bombing campaign in France, for example, or an assault on a Lybian embassy, or rise of Sunni fascism in response to promoting Shiite hegemony, or a push towards exclusion of our military forces by our largest trading partner. Perhaps analysis could or even should influence policy, but it doesn't seem to work that way in practice. Perhaps you should put that suggestion in the next intelligence briefing, assuming this POSUS reads them any more than the last guy.

First I do agree that many folks feel it would be a cake walk and you would drop the perp in the first shot. I also agree that just having a firearm is not a guarantee of anything as you may be the first victim.

So I guess from where I stand, “what do I have to lose” because in every one of these mass killings no law on the books, police officer or government agency has been able to stop it from happening so if I am going to die anyway what do I have to lose in trying to do everything in my power to try and stop it with every means available to me including my carry firearm.

I too was in the military and understand where you’re coming from but I do practice with my firearm under stress and my buddy and I try to make it harder each time. This is still no guarantee I won’t make the wrong choice as there are no guarantees’ in life “except death” but I at least want every option out there to try and cheat death if at all possible.

And Yes I do carry a long gun in my Vehicle ”just in case” to me it is no different than carrying car insurance, water, fire extinguisher, shovel, ax and a bucket with a change of clothes. Stuff happens so you need to be prepared.

My answer is to carry on, continuing to monitor political events as they affect issues of national and local security. My area is low on a "group-attack" target list, but a so-called "lone-wolf" could still stir up some trouble, especially since I live within a few air miles of a nuclear power plant.

I have considered a long gun in my vehicle. However, this would be more for criminal attack in a situation in which I couldn't simply put key in the ignition and drive off. In a terrorist attack, if I even make it to my vehicle, I'm probably gonna try to drive away. My vehicles are both 4x4 trucks, and I'll drive over what I have to to be somewhere else.

Just try to take your full sized MBR into the concert, stadium, or bar with you.

A trunk gun seems like a nice idea, but I'm not sure it's practical. In such a situation, you probably wouldn't be able to get to your car until it was over. And unless you're John McClane, the gas pedal would probably be a better option at that point.

And until then, there's a massive risk of theft.

There are no dangerous weapons, only dangerous people. Learn how to be one, then go about your life with confidence.

My answer is to sit with my back to the wall, put down the phone, observe, and improve my maintained situational awareness level.

And carry anywhere the law permits me to.

I have no illusions about being able to survive a terrorist attack. At least I can try rather than being led to the slaughter like some sheep.

There is no reasonable way for me to go around my day to day life armed with anything more potent than a handgun. In the extremely unlikely event that I am somehow present for a terrorist attack/mass shooting event, I'll do what I can with said handgun(s) and hope that is enough. If it isn't then I'll probably die with everyone else, but at least I will (hopefully) die resisting and perhaps taking a few of them with me.

If ISIS shows up at my house then I have a collection of various semi-automatic rifles and a sub-machinegun I can choose from. Hopefully I'll die of old age without shooting it out with anyone.

I like this comment a great deal. Seems to cover the situation in my opinion.
