My Best Dog Ever Passed Today

Someday, when I get there, I’m going to ask God why he didn’t let dogs live longer. Those who have never had a good dog don’t know how much they improve the quality of our lives. I’m glad you were so lucky. And she was lucky to have had you.

Dog is God backwards mate, I lost my late sons dog a few years ago. My son was 19 when he got Buddy, unfortunately we only had him 9 years cancer and $50k in vet bills, Cancer won.

So sad to lose a best friend and companion. Sorry for your loss. I had a close call last spring when mine was injured at a boarding kennel while we were on vacation and he almost died from the sedative at the vet. I was already preparing for the worst news over the phone while I was at work and my wife had to take him in. Now he's 10 so his days are numbered, so I'm trying to cherish the good years he has left. My last dog ran off and died while I was out of town for work, and that broke my heart.

Hate it for your loss, but she seemed to have a full happy life doing what she was born to do. You can’t ask for more from a dog than that and they can’t hope for more than that from you.

My sympathy to you too sir. I've been there 6 times already and know how painful it is to lose your best friend. My seventh dachshund is 16 now and blind/ deaf, but still going strong. I fear she has not long to be with us.. God bless you all.

I'm sorry for your loss. We had to put our dog to sleep last summer, and it was one of the hardest things I had to do. I take comfort in that we gave her a great home for 18 years. I hope you do the same.

Yep, a Boykin I got from a home breeder. I had him pick her out and he did a great job of picking.

My BIL trains and uses Boykins for Turkey and upland bird hunting. They are great hunting dogs and even better companions. He is on his second after losing his favorite all time dog 3 years ago at age 15. I feel your pain. Give it a few weeks or months then get yourself a new puppy. It will never replace your favorite but will still be happy to greet you every time you walk in the door tail wagging.

I have been there several times as I have had a retriever all of my adult life. they usually live to about 12. I have gone thru the loss of a valued companion several times . it does not get easier. Sorry for the loss!
