My cousin gets hit with five .357 rounds and lives

These shootings took place near where I live. One just a few blocks away. The fellow had hacked up his family and had drifted into the city hoping to kill a few more people. He murdered one fellow in Spenard as he was warming up his car. Shot a court clerk in the back as she was jogging, then shot this fellow and stole his car! Makes me glad I'm armed, but I sure wish the fates had put and my black talons me behind the @#$@#. He would not have lived. Alaska doesn't have enough money to have the death penalty, so he won't be getting the chair.

On the "plus" side, he apparently limited his shooting to hit-and-run attacks for fear of alerting people and getting shot himself. These were not killings with impunity, but ambush attacks. He left the first murder without taking the car because he felt too vulnerable trying to remove the body from the driver's seat.

Death did not happen, so death is not a sentence to be considered.

You did read the article where where the killer hacked his own Dad to death right?!?? I hope your talking about Att murder needing to be a death sentence.

An incompetent killer is still a killer that acted on his own will. If a dog is a biter he is usually put down (unless owner is stupid). Doesn't matter if the dog has a weak jaw or dull teeth he is still a biter and that mentality won't go away.

Week sentencing just furthers what is mostly wrong with the US penal system. There would be a lot less theft if people lost hands. And a lot less killers if they weren't allowed to spread the disease.

Mad Hungarian- So glad you cousin is OK. Give him our warmest regards for being a survivor!

Here's a perfect example for all those "what caliber" questions and "this caliber vs that caliber" polls. There is no wonder bullet. It's all about shot placement.

That sounds good until you read of people who are shot in very lethal places and continue to function for some. Heck, how many times have you heard of a deer hunter completely destroying a deer's heart and the thing still runs 100 yards. The fact is that guns arent death rays. If you are in a position to defend your life, multiple hits are better than one!

Thanks to everyone for your wishes of speedy recovery. I will pass that on to Tamas.
The BG killed two people, his father and the student who he couldn't pull out of the vehicle. BG is charged with 2 counts of murder and 3 attempted murder.

The judge ORDERED a public defender?

You have the right to one but should never have one forced on you.

typically a judge will actually force one on you if you he does not believe that you are competent enough to act as your own defense... that said, typically you fill out a affidavit, stating that you cant afford one, and the judge "orders" one for you

Wow, your cousin is one lucky guy! :what:

I'm too stuck on how amazing it is that he survived (and is doing quite well, from the sounds of it) to dwell on what the perp oughtta get....

Very lucky person and the perp should receive the sentence he has coming to him. Death did not happen, so death is not a sentence to be considered.

Actually, he hacked his father to death with a machete and almost killed his future stepmaother the same way. He also killed another person to take his vehicle but was afraid the gunshots had alerted neighbors, so he left the area. He then shot a woman because she looked at him funny and then finally shot Mr. Deak after he got out of his vehicle. The guy is a total dirtbag loser and we are going to have to warehouse this piece of human refuse for the next 50-60 years. Unfortunately, Alaska has no death penalty. Maybe this loser's actions will change that.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your cousin
My wife always asks me why I carry a gun to throw out the garbage, that's why
