I took my Single action revolver apart this morning and put it back together.
For some reason now the cylinder doesnt rotate when i cock the hammer to the second position.

Could anyone help me out?

Did you get the hand back in and in the right place? Is it attached to the hammer? Is the hand spring intact or was it broken in disassembling the gun? Does the cylinder stop release when you cock the hammer, or will the hammer cock?

A lot of things could be wrong; I suggest you obtain some takedown instructions and then disassemble the gun again. There may be something broken or you might just have it together wrong.

It would help to know the make and model of the pistol and how thoroughly you disassembled it.

Just off the top of my head it sounds like you're cylinder hand isn't engaging the notches on the rear part of the cylinder to push it round to the next location. This could be because the spring that pushes this hand out isn't installed correctly or is missing. See part 7 and 18 on the diagram of this typical Single Action revolver.

One of the real problems was that I couldnt unscrew the screw holding either sides of the handle to the metal frame of the revolver... So I couldnt get the whole gun apart. The screws just kept turning. I'm almost convinced I bought a complete piece of crap.

There are some "brand specifics" with some revolvers, so what brand and model is your gun? New "transfer bar" actions are somewhat different than Steve C's posted drawing, although that is a good place to start.

If the grip screws/threads are stripped, sounds like someone did some real ham-fisted home-brew [ahem] "gunsmithing" on it. Go slow and cautious.

well its typically a piece of crap...

modeled after a colt and the screws are really really ****ty just to make it look old... I think ive stripped it and now the action is permanently done for...

Time to put it up on the wall....
