Lotsa places...
I found this LNIB Pre-lock S&W 586 at a local big box retailer the other day. I had been in earlier that night and looked the gun over (revolver checkout included.) I tried to talk them down but the price was firm at $459. The gun had been in the display case for less than a week and this store is in a mall that saw 120,000 shoppers on Black Friday so it was going to be shopped heavily from now till Christmas. I had been holding out for a 66 or 65 from CDNN, but given the situation I went ahead and picked up the 586.

The gun is in the original box with the rust resistant paper and manual. (SN on the box matches the gun). It is a post recall model, so no problems there. The finish is near perfect with only a light scratch on the cylinder. The trigger is still slightly gritty/stacky toward the end of DA travel. I think the DA pull will smooth out on its own. SA break is clean, like a mind-link. Think, Bang.

I'll update with a range report when it stops snowing.

Oooooo me likey lots.

Remember that everybody who talks about how good the triggers were on guns from the 70s etc. rarely take into consideration that those guns likely have had there triggers pulled thousands and thousands of times, smoothing them out nicely. Your trigger will smooth out very nicely with use.

What a beauty, great pics too. That bluing is fantastic and I love the S&W grips, and a pre-lock to boot. You will love shooting that thing, I have a newer 586-7 with wood grips and it is comfy, I think that will be a dream with those rubber grips, even with some pretty heavy 357 loads. Congrats.

Sweeeet!

I have a 586 (no dash) made in 1984. I didn't pay quite that much, but yours looks a lot cleaner. I hope you like it as much as I like mine, as they are great shooting guns. I put a Miculek spring kit in which helped the DA trigger.
