I hadn’t made my usual gun store/pawn shop rounds in a while. So this week I stopped at the LGS and browsed the used gun cabinet, lots of stuff since last visit. Then it immediately caught my eye, very nice S&W revolver. On closer look, it’s a very clean 586. I asked to see it, well once it touched it I couldn’t let go. Turns out it had only been the cabinet less than 2 1/2 hours. Out comes the plastic and ID.

S&W 586 no dash
Dob ~ 1982
6” bbl
Only factory fired
Original stocks
Box
Papers
No tools

I have two others just like it, both shooters, so it will have a place in the safe with the LNIB model 27-2.

Beautiful gun. I love my 586...will likely buy on or two more as the opportunity comes up.

Great gun but there's no way I can keep a gun unshot after buying it! Last time I tried it was a M36 but it didn't last a day before I put 200 rounds through it...

Wow nice find there! But as soon as I started reading your post, I knew you were going to put this beauty in the safe. Mint, in the box, factory fired only; think about it this sweet gun has be unused for 30 years now. That's way too long to be a "virgin", so to speak.

If it were me, I would have to put this 586 to use. The thought of locking it up for say another 30 years without even being taken to the range and put through its paces, would just be too much to even contemplate.

Hello friends and neighbors // Nice snag/ save, the S&W, 6", model 586, Distingushed Combat Magnum is my favorite do all gun choice.

I have a 6" and a 4", 586, both blemished shooters, I'd probably do the same as you in this case.

Very nice.

My LGS/Pawn has one almost as nice without the window dressing for $750. They've turned down cash offers as high as $700 I'm told.

BTW, unless it has M marked on or about the crane, it may be a candidate for the S&W firing pin bushing recall. If it is, they will pick it up and fix it for free.

I have a 586 4" and the action is the best I have ever had, both single and double. I like the 6 shot action much better than the 7 shot 686. And will it ever shoot ! Wonderful gun.

Nice find on a great gun. I found a 4 inch no dash that way last year. Mine's a shooter. I put some Hogue grips on it and will just try to wear it out.
