My first Beretta... Woot! (pics included!)
Hi everyone...
So some of you might remember my thread not too long ago of what to look for in a used Beretta 92FS
My interests in the 92FS started when I was way young, I still remember when capguns were legal, I had a black 92FS that fed the caps fed by plastic strips.
Well... this purchase was more so of impulse. I've always wanted a Inox 92FS, but my experiences with Beretta 92/96 FSs were somewhat average. The times I have shot them, I remembered it being somewhat so-so. Of course, if theres the bad experience, all you remember is the negatives. This stuck with me for a few years; remember that they jammed (range 92FS) and the 96FS Inox I shot had a long and vague trigger pull. If you look for Beretta and my user name, I usually always gave the Beretta a bad review.
BUT.... I felt the same way about Glocks and I gave those guns another shot. I ended up buying a Glock 23 to try out. And I figured, the ONLY way to really determine whether or not you like another platform is to own it.
I recently saw Modenar1's Beretta for sale at Calguns for a good price. I thought long and hard about it, and the gun ended up selling before I got a chance to buy it. Within that time frame of figuring out whether or not I really want to buy/try out a Beretta, I researched the bejeezus outta the 92FS.
Luckily enough, I found a 92FS Inox, LNIB, for sale. The 2nd owner, never shot it. It was a safe queen. He told me that he doesn't think the 1st owner fired it either. So... Here I am, the 3rd owner of a LNIB Beretta 92FS Inox, Full metal, even metal guide rod, with a straight dustcover. Fully stock, never tinkered.
The RO at the range took a look at it and seriously thinks that the gun was never fired since the breachface is absolutely clean.
So, here's my LNIB all metal, straight DC 92FS Inox... for $525.
Initial impressions. I love the way it feels. This gun is SMOOTH. No slide to frame play. Chambering a dummy round is even smoother than my 1911's.
The trigger pull is pretty long in DA, single action is a little heavy, and can be more crisp. Pretty much how I remembered it, but I plan to get the trigger worked over.
The finish is gorgeous. I love the 2 tone stainless look of the slide and frame. Looks sorta hardchromed for the slide.
That stainless guide rod looks a gazillion times better than the plastic ones on the newer 92's.
The pointability is simply amazing. I love it. I'm also surprised how close the feeling of the grip is to my SIG P226.
One quick concern however, decocking the gun the hammer drops pretty fast. Wouldn't that cause a round to go off?
Also one peeve is when you decock the gun, the safety is engaged. So when you rack a round into the chamber, the hammer automatically drops.
I already got a D spring coming in and just put on Hoge rubber grips.
Anyways, I look forward to taking this gun out to the range. I gotta break this sucker in since the first 2 owners didn't do that for me.
And heres another picture, with my SIG P226 with polished barrel & guide rod. I took this picture for one of the threads at berettaforum.net (SIG vs. PB thread). Figure I just throw in that pic in here too
Take cares everyone and thanks for reading!
