My first inaccurate .40 load (Berry's 180 FP, American Select)

That's why I always verify accuracy consistency by conducting multiple range tests. If the accuracy is repeatable on 2-3 range tests, I would deem that load accurate. If the accuracy is not repeatable, I conduct further tests.

As you saw on the Herco threads, sometimes a small shot group may be a fluke and can't be repeated while most other shot group trends are repeatable.

"Yes it is fast. Since the pressure has to be high for it to work well you should shelve it and use it only for fmj."

I strongly disagree. Light charges of fast powders are a perfect combo for cast lead or plated bullets. Umpteen thousands of shooters have been shooting cast bullets with powders like Bulleye and AA#2 with great success for many decades.

Yes, but in general the .40 has proven to give better accuracy with medium speed powders vs fast.

Some final feedback on this load (6.0 Herco 180 Berry's FP, Tula primers, 1.14"-1.145" OAL)...

Results seem confirmed to be very good! Shot a few hundred of these with my brother yesterday, steel plates at 16ish yards, and was getting very consistent hits at POA. He with his Gen 3 G22, me with my Gen 3 G23 and Storm Lake barrel. No malfunctions, even with my Storm Lake barrel which gave me FTFs occasionally with Berry's 180 FP loaded to 1.125".

Re-confirmed that 1.14-1.145" loads do indeed pass the plunk test in OEM Glock gen 3 barrels. Brass all looked good, no smileys or primer issues or bulging.

Thanks again bds! Saved me from continued frustration.
