on a whim the other day I decided I want to buy a katana (just to hang on the wall and look cool lol) so i did some research and ended up buying a kris cutlery 29A its differentially hardened 5160.

3 main reasons i choose this over some of the others in my price range ~300$

I wanted a blade with a convex profile(niku?)
I love the look of the swept handle(tuska?)
I also wanted a forged in kassaki?

im really impressed with how solid this thing is, it sounds stupid but when I hold it really feels like a weapon its also much lighter then it looks, i havent put it on my postal scale but according the kris its supposed to weigh 2.5 lbs without the scabbard.

id love to do some cutting with it but i have no idea how to properly swing this thing so it will just stay on the wall.

Kris makes real using swords, so your first pick is a good one.

Look for a local Kendo school and sign up.
