I'm new to posting here, so I'm not trying to start any brand or caliber wars, but in the next year or so I'm looking to invest in a my second longarm. My first and only longarm is a Marlin 60 (.22LR semi auto with a cheap off-brand short range scope on it for wilderness plinking); I've done the numbers/facts/specifications research on my own but I'd like to get an idea on a modern opinion of things. I'm the type of person that would like to keep the number of calibers of bullet for which I own guns down, but I don't mind investing in a few guns for each caliber. So - at least for now, I have made the decision to get a rifle in the same caliber as the handguns I own. This limits me to 10mm, .357 mag, and .40 (I have a 9mm but I'm getting rid of it soon).
I have never handled a mech-tech or even seen one in person, but I've narrowed it down to either the MechTech carbine conversion unit (the one for a Glock 20 10mm), or a .357 rifle. Marlin makes a great lever action, but if I can find a good 357 semi-auto rifle I might be convinced into forsaking the 10mm in favor of it
