I need an opinion on which rifle to get.
I am sold to get an AK 47, but i was researching the Ak 74 ab=nd it looks like a pretty good gun.
I have about a 500 dollar budget to spend on a gun. I am not 21 so i cant buy a pistol. Can you give me advice on what to buy. And i want to be able to go to the range and shoot the 100 yd mark....No shotguns either...not yet

Most will recommend that you look into a .22lr rifle first. It is cheaper, ammo is cheaper, and you will not develop bad habits which are possible with larger caliber rifles. The Marlin M60 and Ruger 10/22 are the two most recommended.

Do you have any training? Know how to safely handle a weapon? Look up the 4 Rules of guns. This is a good place to start.

Make sure you know the AK 47 variants are 7.62x39 and the AK74 variants are 5.45x39.

Also look into the SKS rifle. The precursor to the AK47, it is a bit more accurate and cheaper.

well i have shot the ak47 gp75 and a benelli rifle...so i am not a total beginner. so what would you recomend...a century arms or a wasr 10....and whats the difference between the 47 and 74

Not to deter you from purchasing a rifle, but in this state, you actually can purchase a handgun from a private resident (non FFL dealer) of Florida at a gun show or in person anywhere in the state as long as you are over 18.

If you are set on a rifle, any semi auto AK type rifle is not a bad choice, but if you are looking to be able to hit small things at 100+ yards, you may want to look more into something like an SKS or possibly a used Mini-14/Mini-30.

AK-47 is not the best target rifle out there, especially for a beginner, +1 on the .22, cheap to shoot and fun.
