Oh.....sorry I got you in trouble with 'She who must be obeyed'.
Looking at the pic....that button IS a bit on the proud side IMHO. I know they're doing more of that with people so interested in doing fast mag changes, but for a concealment or home defense gun...retaining the mag is higher on the list than a fast change. Some of my concealment pieces have virtually flush buttons that need to be pressed below the surface to release the mag...which pretty much assures that it'll have it's mag at all times unless a conscious effort is made to dislodge it. The German SIG's that had heel releases make a LOT of sense and are much less likely to inadvertently drop their mags....but you pay a small price in time doing a change. No free lunch and all of that.
I must confess to being a mechanic so my first impulse is to 'fix' the machine...where possible. Is the mag release spring fairly stiff? If it depresses too easily that could be something you could address. How far does it have to be pressed before the mag releases? There have been buttons where the catch wasn't fitting in the mag cutout exactly right and would release prematurely...which is another thing that could be easily fixed if it is the case.
Finally got back on this one & Thanks RecoilRob, the ----MAG---- ejector is very easy to trip & I must find another like
mine to see if it is standard issue.
But more definition found after about 120 rounds with the Sig.
One handed is accurate but slow to get on target, not good for home defense of course.
But before I tried one hand a trained officer, caught my problem which goes beyond common grip.
I can't grip my right hand properly & the left hand sets it all in motion!
My right thumb was cut badly about 25 years ago & was bound in a backward turn for a month or less to help heal a severed
ligament or something, unknown to me the result is my thumb doesn't grip straight in, it goes up & in but keeps & upward
press constantly on a pistol or hand shake, anything like that. I didn't have any use of the thumb for about another month
after it was released but suddenly like a light bulb it turned on again & started working again but I never noticed until now
that it was different.
So I am back to the revolver I guess, no problems there.
I had hesitated to say because I thought it would sound like I'm a clutz but I even had the mag eject when I would
remove it from the shoulder harness, now I know why. Sorry to bother you guys but problem solved.
