FULL-ON RANT... SORRY
Greetings all... I just got back from a year overseas, and I go to renew my expired IDPA membership. Oh, cool, they have a new rulebook... let's just take a look... ***???
Okay, my entire rig that I've bought to compete in SSR this year is now either illegal, completely noncompetitive, or both!!! I finally found a good deal on a S&W 610, and orderd a Ky-Tac holster for it... and now it's a doorstop as far as IDPA is concerned. I'm glad I collect 10mm stuff anyway.
I used UM kydex to compete with, as they are cheap and I could compete with alot of different guns without spending a fortune... now, GONE!!!
STIPPLING is an illegal modification in SSP??? Real-world indeed...
Why are CoFs supposed to be "revover-nuetral" ? Isn't that why there is are revolver divisions???
I don't think I've ever seen an open-top magazine pouch that covers more the half of the magazine.
I could go on and on... but the jist is... why in the hell is everybody so concerned with "equipment advantages" in a sport that by rule AWARDS NO SORT OF PRIZE!!!? If "bragging rights" are enough for you to go out and spend $3000 on an "IDPA rig", then you have too much money or didn't breast feed long enough.
Which brings me, at long last, to my suggestion. IDPA is a club sport... egomaniacal idiot Bill Wilson may have got the ball rolling on this Wilson-Combat Challenge Shootoff, but the genie is out of the bottle now. The clubs are formed and out there, I know, I belong to one. WE are the clubs, its our game. Let Bill and his buddies shoot the nationals by themselves... who the hell wants to go to Little Rock anyway?? We don't have to call what we do IDPA... we don't have to call it anything for awhile. I shoot in a great 3-gun league that has no name, we write our own rules at the beginning of each season, and if something doesn't work, we change it for next month's shoot. Why send Bill your money when he obviously doesn't care to hear your opinion. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRE... sorry, got a little excited there...
I shot IDPA because it was fun and it was a great training tool to evaluate myself and my carry equipment. It is no longer either. I'll not be rejoining IDPA. I will rejoin my local club, as it is also affiliated with USPSA and other organizations. I will vehemently encourage the club to drop its IDPA affiliation. Maybe Bill will get the message, maybe someone else will step up to the plate. Hell, I'll do it... I'm out of a job right now
