I interviewed Phil Morden about his Top Shot All Stars victory for my Michigan Firearms Examiner column. I wanted to do this closer to the air date of the finale, but we couldn't get it done until now.

If you are a fan of the show there's some interesting stuff.

Personally, I think Top Shot is a good presentation of the shooting sports to the general public, especially this season. What do you think?

Phil Morden talks about his Top Shot All Stars victory

"In the Top Shot All Stars season finale, which aired last week, Michigan’s own Phil Morden emerged as the winner after a tough competition, which spanned 12 episodes and saw 15 challengers sent home.

Phil, a video producer from Milford, first appeared on Top Shot Season 3, where he made it as far as the individual portion of the competition. In this exclusive interview with the Michigan Firearms Examiner Phil talks about how he prepared for the All Star season, what getting a second chance meant to him, and his experiences on the show."

I was excited to see Phil return to Top Shot. Being a Michigan boy, I was pulling for him to win it all. Wouldn't have been sad to see Gunny Zins win, either, but I'm happy for Phil and hope he comes over to the west side for some competitions.

Dang, I had the final DVRd and was waiting to see who won. I was cheering for Phil from the beginning. It will still be good to watch it even though I know who won now.

I 2nd that, this thread title kind of spoils it for me. I have it DVR'd as well. On another note, hopefully they'll use all new guns next season. Using the same guns as prior seasons was a negative aspect of the show for me this season. Great show though in my opinion. The lack of annoying drama in this season was nice.

I agree 110%. I watched previous seasons for the shooting only, and I generally recorded them so I could skip through as much of the drama as possible. It was nice to watch it all the way through this time.

Very good interview. Thanks!

I do think it's a good presentation for the general public. It shows the fun and the real challenges that can go with shooting. While they don't specifically address the safety rules, they never show them doing things unsafe, they always unload after the run, and, like on the finale, they unloaded the weapon and used a dummy magazine while running.

At first I thought the dummy mag was a little hokey, but it was cool to see Phil run that Kalashnikov so well. You don't get to watch many people that can manipulate those so well.
