I interviewed Larry Corriea, author of "Monster Hunter International" and other works.

Larry is "one of us" and has been a CCW instructor, owned a gun store, and used to hang out on various gun boards.

If you haven't read MHI, imagine a group like Blackwater, only dedicated to fighting monsters.

Here's the link.

An interview with Monster Hunter author Larry Correia

"Larry Correia is steeped in the gun culture. He’s been a licensed machine-gun dealer, competitive shooter, firearms instructor and all-around gun nut.

He’s also a New York Times best-selling author with his “Monster Hunter” series of novels which pit horror-movie monsters against guys with guns. Lots of guns.

The Michigan Firearms Examiner talked with Larry about firearms, writing, and the state of the gun culture."

But with less wanton killing of civilians.

Great book series, great author. Thanks!

Great interview! :) A friend of mine is a long-time friend of Larry Correia, and he was surprised I had read the whole Monster Hunter series. I and am awaiting the next volume, about as impatiently as I wait for "Peace Talks" by Jim Butcher.

I have looked for a Monster Hunter International patch with no luck.:banghead:

Quite literally. Many people knew Larry as a moderator here before he got famous and moved to Yard Moose Mountain.

The Dead Six book started here and you can still find it's first version on these forums.

Yeah, we talked about that in the interview. He freely acknowledges the fans from the forums helped his early success.

I remember reading, "Welcome Back, Mr Nightcrawler" as it was posted. Who woulda thought?

Corriea has been part of THR for quite some time. That's how I came to reading his books. I may or may not have even pestered him about when the next ones were coming out. :uhoh:

I was browsing THR when Larry was posting chapters of Monster Hunter International for people to read. I wasn't interested at the time. Now I wish I had read them and bought one of the early editions of his book.

I bought my first Ak from him. Robinson Armament imported Vepr K. Very good rifle.

Bought your first AK from him? That's epic.

One of the characters in his series uses a Saiga 12 with a launcher and folding bayonet on it, I setup mine like that but crap was it heavy. :)

I learned about his books here, and have seen where he'll occasionally pop into threads like this to answer a question and thank the fans personally. Always nice to see people like that.
Also found a signed first-run copy of MHI: Nemesis at the local Books-A-Million. Should have grabbed it.

If he had not been active on here, I would not have had the pleasure of reading MHI, Dead Six, and Grimnoir novels. As unlucky as I generally am, there's some saying about a blind pig and an acorn and that was me when I first read about Larry. :)
