My Letter to Playboy

With the advent internet porn those Mags have lost about 90% of there circulation I get Playboy for like $1.50 an issue. It basically serves as coffee table conversation and more ladies look at mine then guys. Penthouse mag witch I don't buy use to sell 6 million issues a month at its peak they now sell 500,000 and are expected to go out of business. They have already filed chapter 11 and Bob Guccione's sold most of his personal assets trying to save it.

The only thing holding Playboy up is their internet and pay-per-view divisions. The print publication has suffered seriously as well, although not as badly as Penthouse.

That's funny, because, before I let my 10 year subscription lapse, I remember seeing an Italian O/U in their "Toys for Dads & Grads" section.

A little hypocracy, perhaps?

As a side note, it was especially funny seeing my girlfriends's ex-roommate when she was at Texas Tech in the Big 12 issue. :)

You guys actually read the magazine?
Did for a while, until their insipidness made it not worth the effort.
As for the pictures: A contiuous stream of people who all look the same:
Barely (if at all) out of their teens, 30 pounds underweight, fake hair, fake breasts, fake teeth, fake noses, shaved pubes. In short, the exact polar opposite of how A WOMAN is supposed to look. I'm no pedophile, so thanks anyway.

Regardless, Playboy captures the absolute best of the "girl next door"

=======================================
There is more silicon in Playboy than in my WD40.

They do not look like anything in my neighborhood.
=======================================

Well, duh. They've got teeth and two eyebrows!

Sorry, could not help myself:D

Mute: yes, I became aware of this a few years ago. Playboy is 99% run by women, with Hef as the male figurehead. Hef does very little aside from party a lot, from what I gather, but they need a male to hold up as the Playboy standard.

I don't know what they will do when he dies, poor earnings a few years back had share holders openly questioning whether they should subsidize Hugh's parties to the tune of $800,000.00 a year. He didn't have his annual Halloween party this year either.

This thread is starting to wander away from being On Topic. I could just close it, but I think I'll give everyone a chance to bring it back On Topic.

That's a good letter. Folks, whenever you embark on another unilateral boycott of someone who wants to take our freedom, write 'em a letter and give 'em an earful. Playboy actually has a lot of surprisingly well written articles in it but it's gone too far down the PC road to be redeemable to me. Maxim is tasteful and funny, although juvenile, and would be a good replacement. I had no idea it was named after Hiram Maxim - that's wonderful.

The only freedom liberals have ever considered worth protecting is sexual freedom. Some would argue that this is to keep the people destracted so they don't notice the coming police state ... others believe this preoccupation with sexual freedom is because part of the liberal agenda is to destroy Christianity (I think its a bit of both).

At any rate, other then fighting against feminism, Hef has always been on the side of liberalism, why would he be pro gun?

Most people pic their positions on various issues (like gun control, abortion, environmentalism, gay rights, religion, etc) because the "side" they have chosen maintains that position. Hef decided to be a liberal because he likes sex and conservatives didn't like his magazine ... liberals are for "sexual freedom" therefore he tows the line and follows what liberals positions are on other issues (whether or not he agrees with them or not).

Also, he seems to buy into this silly notion that gun control does good ... therefore he can publicly come out in support of gun control to "make up for" his other sins (namely not taking the liberals position on feminism).

In the great scheme of things, Playboy's editorial position on gun control is so unimportant that the concept of them even having one is humorous. Playboy, in the end, is an empire built on masturbation. List if you must all the big name journalists and authors who have contributed articles to the magazine, the main selling point has always been pictures of naked women. Hefner living the "Playboy Lifestyle" was just additional material for readers who couldn't come up with adequate masturbatory fantasies of their own. I'm against neither pictures of naked women nor masturbation, as such, but you'll forgive me if I don't place much importance on the Playboy editorial stance on matters not related to their field of expertise: bopping the bologna. Anybody whose belief in the validity of the RKBA is formed by what s/he read in a stroke book is too damn stoopid to be trusted with a gun anyway.

It's ashame you have such fulfilling sex life you believe that's what the mags for, we are all a product of our environment. I think this thread has out served it's usefulness and should be retired.:neener:

The internet porn sites openly state that their product is all about masturbating. If, by your own statement, Playboy lost 90% of its subscribers to internet porn, then it would seem pretty obvious that they were subscribing for auto-erotic purposes in the first place.
I repeat, Playboy even having an editorial stance on RKBA is ludicrous. It speaks more about their bloated sense of self-importance than it does anything else.
