You can fire them with out patching to I found. If I sold it, I would let the bullet mold I got for it go with the deal!

I got it hoping I could use the same bullets in it as my revolvers and found I could't really. Well maybe if I patched them but I just went ahead and bought a mold.

Thought about it.
Spendy though and kinda hard to come by are they not?

Yes, sort of spendy but not all that hard to come by if a person decides to spend the funds.
If a person can find one locally then they can probably get one for a better deal.
And if a person doesn't mind a gun that has a little bit of wear then they can also use that to get a better deal.
It's a lot like buying a car, the price is really dependent on condition and the cosmetic flaws.
A buyer can use that to their advantage, especially locally if they can examine it in person and negotiate.
But what happens is that the local ones can get purchased by resellers who want to auction it online for a profit.
So a person needs to find it before a speculator comes along who only wants to resell it.
Or else they need to go online to buy one which can end up costing more.

Here in the Eugene area, there is only one black powder shop I know of, and I doubt they have one.
Been buying my used guns on gunbroker and many times things get up there in price, plus you are sort of buying a pig in a poke online.

You'll find them where you find them, and it may not be in a BP shop.
They can get traded in or put on consignment at the regular gun shops, large and small.
A person needs to scour by calling and be willing to travel a little bit.
Use friends as sources and to keep a look out in their travels, look up gun shops that you've never been to and call them to inquire.

There's a Cabela's near you that should be a magnet for trade-in guns.
I once bought a used ROA at Cabela's, found it in the used centerfire revolver display case.
And they will also let a person put a gun on hold. ;)

No, I think I will pass on the canon's. Getting something to shoot out of one would be a pita I would think.

I like that little shop. Last time I was there they had a stainless Old Army with adjustable sights.

How long ago was that?
Maybe it's not too late for Brutuskend to rescue it. ;)

I believe some of kaidos conicals can be used in cartridges too..some with or without resizing. Check it out. I love my .36 cal 140 grain conicals.

Any of you guys ever find yourself browsing for good deals for black powder guns or checking auctions sites ...even though you dont have an extra penny in your budget to spend? I mean..you know you cant afford it and you wont be able to buy it no matter how good the deal...yet you still search as if you can buy that great deal if it comes up. I have no idea why i do this to myself. And then i get upset when its out of stock...as if it even matters! Maybe its just me and im crazy?

It drove me crazy for a while too.
Finally over a couple decades I was able to put together some cash to have on "stand-by" for just such a bargain.
But since I do living history for the F&I War and the AWI, I'm usually "rescuing" a bargain musket that is later sold to a new reenactor, or to a group that needs a "loaner musket" for a recruit. So I then replenish the funds.
So far I've gotten a new in the box Jap Bess kit that I finished and sold, and an unfired French musket that I sold, and a Bess (which had been upgraded), and the finished muskets were at the average "used" price. I also got a SxS 20 gauge, but that was just for me, and delayed replenishing the funds as I still have that. So..., only four bargains in about 15 years...the previous 15 I was doing what you mentioned. OH I try all the time, but I bid the total amount that I have to spend, and normally get outbid.

Still really can't buy what my heart desires... a Kibler Kit. ;) (If my heart could get only one more rifle)
I'd also like to get a Pedersoli "Bounty" pistol and fit it for a shoulder stock, and use that for deer....
AND I'd like to get a Whitworth rifle copy, and a repro scope, and try that out to 1000 yards...,
OH and I want one of them SxS "diablo" 12 gauge hand cannons (shotguns) for no particular reason...

Ok, so I guess I wasn't done after all.
Bought a 1858 sheriff and I have a 1860 army on the way. Plus I have been working on some grip changes.
