That'll happen.

I finally got old enough to realize that I really only need one example from each genre. That still hasn't stopped the desire to own every example of every genre, though.

I had ordered a sheriff model 58 and asked emf to hold the rest of my order (the brass frame 51 and a spare cylinder) until it came in. After a month and a half or so I contacted them to see where things stood. They said the order was in and the guns just needed to be checked over....
More time goes by and still no guns so I call them. " We tried to phone you to see if you still wanted the 58 but couldn't reach you so we sold it." :(
So they gave me a little bit of a deal on the silver 51. Other wise, I would have 2 matched sets.
Not too sorry though, the silver 51 IS sweet.

You think they are good now? Just wait till you get one tuned for performance. Wire spring set up for crisper trigger and bolt, lighter hammer pull, cap post and hammer sheild, action stop etc...these guns can be made really slick and reliable with the right tune job.

Great, there goes MORE money. ;)

Btw.
First time out with my first .50 ( the .50 in the middle) I hit the bottom of a small cat food can, standing with no support @ 70 paces. (100 grains with a hollow point sabot) First shot!
I guess my old USMC training from '71 is still in there some place. :)

Yeah, you are probably right about the flint lock. The only friend I have that's into black powder has a flint lock.
Guess I better start looking huh. ;)

Btw a little back story.
I was going through jet school in Milington Tenn. back in '72 and they were having a contest to see who could sell the most tickets for a Marine charity ( been so long now I don't) remember which charity).
Any way, the first place prize was a cool engraved cap and ball revolver.
I did not win....
And I have wanted one ever since.
I have been researching for several years tring to decide which to choose, the Colt 60 navy got good marks, and the 58 remmy got good marks for the top strap.
But what the hell I started collecting S/S recently (first check motorcycle) so why not get one of Everything!

Well maybe not EVERYTHING. ;)

That's quite an arsenal! Why quit now and deprive yourself of all that fun of collecting just one more? So many guns and so little time (and money!)

That would have been my guess. I’m a fan of the Spanish stuff. I’m on the lookout for one in .45 just like that or CVAs version.

This was my first muzzle loader rifle.
Kinda took my cherry. ;)
Found it on gunbroker.
It's a good shooter.
If you can't find one, I might be willing to let this one go. Don't recall off hand what I paid for it, but I'm open to offers on it.

I saw one on GB not too long ago a guy was selling in New York. Never responded to my question so I let it go. They’re nicely scaled rifles and easy to carry in the woods.
