There's a video of the Jason Baney hitting steel at the Alleghenny Sniper Challenge, reputedly the premiere long range not-on-a-square-range UKD matches in America. Lots of steep shots, lots of wind, terrain wide-open and also thickly forested.
Anyhow, the calibers that prevail fall in the 6.5 to 7mm range, with a steady drift toward the 6.5s. The .30 cals don't fare so well because of the wind. Shots are all field positions, out to 1,100yds.
