My M1 Carbine comes home

My M1 Carbine came home from the Fulton Armory after being re-barreled due to a split gas cylinder. This is the first time I shot it after it got back a couple of days ago. This is just a function test to be sure everything is working.

By the way, I like the ergonomics of the Choate stock, but I have some military wood that needs to be stripped and repaired for this gun.

Where did the gas block crack and was it a GI barrel?

I have been tempted to send mine to them to replace the springs and get a tune-up at least.

Well, like I say, it's not JUST the springs. It's sixty years old, I doubt my grandfather ever even field-stripped it, I think it's worth it to have it gone through, and replace the springs while they have it apart.

Yes it was a G.I. barrel. The gas piston nut backed out and came off and got driven back into the gas cylinder cracking it.
