Great DIY video! Looks good as new and all the better because you did the work yourself.

They look soooo much better in a wood stock. I restored a Winchester with a highwood stock. I boiled the wood and was amazed by how many of the dents came out.

Excellent, as always, Mike.

Did using your bare hands in the tung oil case you any issues? The actual fruit used to cause problems in North Florida with kids and more often adult tourist that insisted they were either some sort of citrus or peaches. There used to be a good bit of tung tree orchards along alt 27 between Perry and Tallahassee. Folks coming north from the Billboard Florida to The Other Florida often took that route then got on US 90 for westerly travel. After leaving Tallahassee area it was about 18 miles to the next service station, my grand dads. On several occasions he or I saw tung tree fruit in a car and had to explain what it was. On some occasions folks insisted they had eaten none only to begin throwing up shortly after ward with chunks of fruit visible in the effluent. Fortunately the local hospital was only a few blocks down the road. Eating smaller quantities tended to act as a strong laxative.

My other grand parents had a tree in their back yard which had gotten at least two generations of local small children's interest. Guess who had to chop down and dig up that threat to local safety. Darn thing still sprouted from missed roots at least two years.......

I have as a result avoided using tung oil as a finish and was wondering if I am over concerned.

I have a carbine stock rescued from the junk barrel at my LGS that Bubba had tried to checker that I have about gotten "clean" and was wondering what to do next.

Keep up the good work and don't let the puritans here me say it but do not lose the Choate stock (unless you would like to send it to me) for when you feel like playing some gun game not requiring WWII costuming.

I enjoyed the video, and I think it turned out looking very good.

Wasn't the original finish Boiled Linseed Oil? Or am I thinking of something else?
