Overall good shape I think. It's a 1948 made at Izhevsk.

I bought it from Interordnance. Matching #'s on receiver, bolt, magazine floor plate, and butt plate. Blueing shows a little wear around muzzle, but crown looks good. Bore is shiny. I was expecting a cosmoline mess, but it was cleaned up nice, just a light coat of oil and a bit of cosmoline in the nooks and crannys. I took it apart and sprayed all the metal with Gun Scrubber solvent, then cleaned it with Breakfree and finally a light coat of Rem Oil. Stock has some normal wear and tear, but no damage. I wanted a laminate stock, but they were out of laminate with matching numbers. So I opted to keep matching numbers and go with plain old wood stock. Action is stiff. It is pretty good when just opening/closing the bolt, but if I dry fire it, opening the bolt after that is a bit tough.

Only things I can see that I didn't get is the dog collars for the sling, and the cleaning brush.

That looks great. Being a 1948 it missed WWII, so you may have a nearly pristine example...it looks that way from the pictures anyway.

I don't know where you can get just the dog collars, but CTD has the accessory kit with complete sling and basically everything else you already have for $10. Maybe somebody will be along with a source for the collars.

Looks like a great addition to the collection.

I may order that kit from CTD anyway. Can't hurt having extras. Any experience with the stripper clips they sell?

Nice looking rifle. I am probably ordering one in a few weeks. I just got 880 rounds of 7.62x54 so I'm ready to rock!

Sorry, no info on the strippers. Do a search on THR and something should come up. There have been a few threads about people looking for them. I believe the general consensus is that most of the available ones aren't that good.

Someone aroung here undoubtedly has tried them. If they're any good, somebody probably knows about it.

Nice Mosin!

I picked up some dog collars at the local gunshow. Don't know where to get them online but I bet a google search might turn some up.

Jon there is a guy on here who's screen name is cosmoline. He's the guy to talk to about stripper clips. I believe he started a thread on this very subject .

ok thanks again msgt9410. I orderd the sling kit, i really only want the sling and the fireing pin gauge, so ill be happy if i get more. I also got a few boxes of the ammo.

AIM has the same package for 10 bucks too. Plus a good selection of 7.62x54r ammo right now. I think I am going for the Czech 147 gr light ball to start with....
