I checked my M44 a while ago with a crude set up and it slugs 314 so it will definitely be getting some .303 bullets. but I wanted an easier way to make slugs than pounding a fishing weight of the wrong size down the bore.
I grabbed a 3/4 " steel plate and had someone at work cut it in half to make a two part mold then clamped the parts together and used a size O drill bit (.316) to make a hole most of the way through the plate. melted those fishing weights and poured them in. The slug I made measured exactly .316 and was much easier to drive down the barrel of the 91/30.
The slug measured .303/.312 on the grooves/lands, so my question to the high roaders is which bullet will work better in the 91/30? the 303 bullets I have yet to buy for the M44 or the 308 bullets I have for the M1?
