LoneStarWings As always, very nice! Beautiful rifle, H2O Man! I'm looking forward to a range report.

Thank you!
I hope to hit the range during the 2nd week of September... maybe sooner.

Here is another look

CH-M21A5-1.jpg

Short ranged optic on long range optic with collapsable buttstock with VFG with bipod with long barrel with silencer.

It's like an SPR AR-10 and an M4 had a wild drunken night of awkward lovemaking and 9 months later this rifle was born.

Then again, this is coming from the guy with a whole ensemble of odd guns that makes no sense.

Short ranged optic

close range shots

on long range optic

long range shots

collapsible buttstock

ability to adjust for different shooting positions, or different shooters

may be handy for shooting offhand, probably for close range shots

with bipod
may be handy for shooting prone, probably for long range shots

with silencer.

being quiet is nice for your ears, and its the neighborly thing to do :D Plus, they are pretty easy to take on and off, if you want to shed weight or be loud.

I'd say it's a little heavy (OK, a lot, but I'm a fan of the plastic 5.56 rifles) for my taste, but the layout does seem to make sense. Quick target acquisition for snap shots at very short range, accuracy with quick follow up shots at long range.

Additional details:

Gen 1 SAGE Mod 1 stock
TangoDown Bipod, VFG and pistol grip
KAC sling mount with push button swivel
Magpul CTR, cheek riser #3, ladder rail covers
LaRue LT-608 optic rail with LOW wire EDM SEI rings
Aimpoint Micro T-1 mounted on a TNVC-3PS offset on a Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T
I'm bookmarking this one for my shopping list!

I guess the US military would beg to differ as that is pretty much a military DMR build. I'm not sure what you have against mounting a red dot on a scope could definitely come in handy.

I agree, not really my cup of tea (already have one heavy long range rifle...next will be an light intermediate range rifle), but a solid build nevertheless. It is hard to argue that H2O is in any way ignorant when it comes to M14/M1A/EBRs. The only thing that I wonder is how many he wants to build...no disrespect intended, but I like a little more diverse portfolio. :D

I though M14 were wood, didn't have a pistol grip, weighed 9 pounds and somtimes mounted a scope. I just learned something. Are M14s the new AR, you can do anything to them?

Hammerhead6814 How much money do you have in that thing?
I figure the replacement cost for everything including the suppressor is about $9K.

Maverick223 I like a little more diverse portfolio.

I have owned a diverse sampling of long guns over the past few decades and the M14 is the most versatile rifle by far.
At least my collection of M14s is diverse... wait until you see what I'm working on now :D

Ummm ..... who would I need to call to get something like this, because I think I just found my next weapon purchase (minus the can).

So just to clear up my confusion, the receiver was not changed? I want to compliment you on your photo skills. Could you take one of the receiver and the stock seperated. I am the same situation as kingcreek, got a nice M1A sitting in my safe and I haven't shot a national match in 10 years. It appears the stock comb raises, is that adjustable by clicks or just how does that work?

1KPerDay Looks frickin' awesome, H20 Man. Congrats.
Thank you!

Ron Smith @ Smith Enterprise built the barreled action on a heel stamped Poly Tech receiver that I supplied along with some other parts.
I can offer you tips and suggestions on how to complete the build.

I used the Poly Tech receiver, op rod and trigger group and the balance of the parts are USGI and SEI.
The cheek riser on the M14ALCS/CV "Mod 1" stock with the Magpul CTR butt stock accepts snap-on combs.
The tallest (# 3) is pictured, they are not adjustable.
However, the M14ALCS "Mod 0" EBR stock has a butt stock that includes a fully adjustable comb.
The new SAGE EBR stocks with 5 screws holding the top rail in place are made to accept a medium heavy barrel.
None of the SAGE chassis stock accept a double lugged receiver though...

The SAGE NAVY SEAL Mod 1 CQB EBR stock that I used to create my CH M21A5 EBR is one of 11 or 12 that were released to the public.
It came with the CTR, cheek riser, TangoDown pistol grip and VFG. These are rare and valuable.
There are a few Gen II Mod 1 stocks out there, but the rest of the M14ALCS/CV "Mod 1" stocks are black and do not include a factory installed butt stock or VFG.

Visit: The History and Development of the SAGE Enhanced Battle Rifle (EBR) chassis stock system for additional information.

I hope that helps.
