Maverick223 Your current build is much more to my liking...what is the dry weight on that one? :)

This one weighs about 10 pounds as pictured above.
The scope and rings will add less than one and a half pounds.

That is a little more manageable, I imagine that you will be using a Leupy CQ/T or a MR/T Mark IV. :)

A new one goes for around $1600. It's hard to say these days but for an excellent condition loaded model with the stainless barrel that is about right. Maybe since the guy needs money you can offer $1100.

Hammerhead6814 H20 I've come to understand that you've been building M-14's for awhile now. What would you say the cost of a used M1A (this rifle in-particular) should be? That seems a little steep for a used M1A to me.

lipadj46's reply is on the mark.

H2O MAN,
What sort of accuracy (at longer ranges) are you expecting or hoping for from your latest creation? I like everything about your latest M14 with the exception of the bipod ... for aesthetic reasons only since I have no idea how functional it is. I've watched that video of you shooting a suppressed M14 quite a few times ... it just doesn't get old ... good stuff.

Good choice on the Mark 4 1.5-5x SPR ... I have one illuminated and two non-illuminated versions and really like them.

:)

They both shot MOA when test fired in a fiberglass SEI stock.
My Crazy Horse M21A5 EBR has an evil twin nestled tightly in an RRM stock

Hammerhead6814 God, that range test can't come fast enough.
Ammo is what's needed. I have plenty of Portuguese surplus but little match ammo.
I did secure a small stash of 168 grain Hornady TAP from Clyde Armory yesterday, they have ordered more for me.

I picked up a few boxes of 308 WIN 168 GR BTHP TAP PRECISION®

308_winchester.jpg

I also picked up some of their 308 WIN 168 GR A-MAX and some 308 WIN 155 & 168 GR TAP - FPD.
Now it's time to take that trip to the range :)

I'm getting old and set in my ways. My idea of a proper M1A's a wood and steel sort of configuration. I can see the collapsible stock and vertical grip on a SOCOM for more punch for entry and room clearing, but on an SDM rifle? I dunno.

To each his own, I guess.

Oh no! The AR15 kitchen sink disease is spreading to battle rifles now! We need to keep them separated in the safe.

:D

Just kidding. Nice rifle. I'd love to hear an after action range report.

Forged Norinco and Poly Tech (ChiCom)

When you send them to SEI do they have to re-heat treat them? I have a poly-tech and am trying figure out what needs to be done to it.

Nice rifles BTW :)

Thank you!

Ron Smith knows the Chinese M14 better than the people that made them.
He will test the hardness of each ChiCom receiver before assembly and re-heat treat them as needed.

h20, if you need a place to shoot, i've got two 1000 yrd ranges in eastern/middle TN. come on up any time. i'd like to see them shoot first-hand, esp with cans.

btw, TN state long range championship is this weekend in Oak Ridge. fri/sat/sun 1000 yrds.

Wow!

H2O Man,
I really like the second rifle. Both are cool, but that second one really appealed to me. Very nice. Have you ever had any experience with LRB receivers? I've heard some good things about them.

taliv, I appreciate the offer, but I have a home game that will require me to work.
Are you going to attend the Silencer shoot Sept. 19th?

LRB makes great receivers and I would have some if Norinco and Poly Tech M14s were not available.
That said... I recommended waiting for SEI's new receiver to hit the market before buying the LRB.
