that is sweet i got a dpms 204 and its awsome but i did want to get the magpul stock on it but at the time it wasnt allowed to order them at the store i bought it from. is that a JP enterprise gun? and what kind of scope are you getting. mine is a Nikon monarch 6-24X 50mm i love it. especially since it was free thanks to the person at the register

Hi everyone!
Look what came in the mail today. I mounted a Trijicon 5-20 X50 Accupoint with standard reticle and green dot. Put the sunshade on for good measure. Mount is a Larue LT104. Hopefully I got the eye relief right. I think I did, but I can always adjust the LOP on the stock if necessary.
Here are some quick specs on the rifle.
Lower:
Mega Machines Billet
Magpul PRS stock
Ergo tactical grip with palm shelf
Norgon Ambi Mag release.
Timney 3lb competition trigger (skeletonized)
KNS Gen II trigger pins
Stag Arms lower parts kit with ambi safety selector
Upper:
White Oak Armament Flat Top
24 inch fluted barrel with 1:10 twist (should easily stabilize 40 grainers and up)
YHM customizable rifle length free float tube
Harris Bi-Pod by Larue Tactical (notched legs and swivel base and the Larue picatinny attachment)

That is the plan!
I am on vacation this week. Plan to make it to the range very shortly. I've got some Hornady V-Max in 32 and 40 grain variety. Also have a box of Remington 34 grainers.
Plan to reload in the future, but after this, Momma has put me on a major budget!!!!

other than for varmints I cant see a use for an AR in this caliber and I used one back in the early 70s, still own several but this is one caliber that seems to have only one use.

This may be a one trick pony, but aren't all rifles to some extent?
Keep in mind the .204 is capable of dispatching everything from ground squirrels to coyotes. This one will hopefully print dime sized groups at 100 yards. It should be a blast to shoot as recoil will be low enough to see your hits and splats through the scope. Something about shooting 32 grainers at over 4000 feet per second makes me smile like a little kid!

the .22-250 makes more sense cause of it's versatility.
That is a very nice rifle that I think anyone would be proud to call their own. I look forward to hearing how it shoots.
I'd imagine that a person that can purchase a nice rifle like the one pictured can purchase another rifle that can do a better job than a 22-250 for non varmint sized game. Critiquing a varmint caliber for only being good for shooting varmints seems to me like critiquing a sports car for not having greater seating capacity.
FWIW my varmint gun is a 22-250 as it is a caliber I really like. I only use it for shooting varmints too since I have other guns that do other tasks better.

i dont know about the 204 ruger being only for varmints. i still wouldnt like to get hit by 32 grains traveling over 4000 fps.
i have a remington r 15 223. and a remington 700 vtr 204 ruger. i shot half inch steel plates with both. using 55 grain vmax 223 and 32 grain vmax 204. the 223 penetrated half way through. the 204 went all the way through.
im not saying use 204 for deer but dont under estimate the little bullet.

yea its fun for prarie dogs i got mine in the winter or 07-08 and about a month ago was the first time i got to kill with it. we shot prarie dogs in montana and it launches them like crazy and you can watch it all in your scope and if i were you id try to stick to the heavier 40gr if you have very much wind in your area
Range report with pics!
Hi everyone,
Since I am on vacation this week, I was able to go to the range and test out the .204. It was a great day after several days of rain. Sunny and about 75 degrees. Spent about 5 hours shooting, cleaning and talking to fellow shooters.
I had a bunch of ammo, but ended up shooting Hornady 40 grain V-Max and Hornady 32 grain V-Max. At this point it is difficult to decide which shot best. I did my best to bore sight the rifle at the house, but I was pretty far off. With more light in the outdoors I was able to get on paper at 50 yards. I bore sighted this rifle the old fashioned way which is to look down the bore and adjust the scope accordingly. It's pretty tough to do with such a small bore.
Anyhow, here are my impressions:
1) Recoil is definitely light enough to see your hits through the scope.
2) The rifle performed flawlessly, without a single malfunction.
3) The Trijicon Accupoint is very clear and it is super easy to put the small green dot on target. I am glad I chose this scope due to it's simple reticle. I was going to buy the IOR Valdada 6-24X50 with the MP-8 reticle, but I think this will work well for a varmint rifle. The Accupoint has exposed turrets for ease of adjustment. I would say that the clicks feel just a little mushy but still acceptable.
4) The Mega Machines lower has a tensioning screw to make the upper and lower fit tighter. Thus far I haven't used the tension screw. The fit to my White Oak Armament upper is pretty tight without using the tension screw. You can see a little daylight between the upper and lower, but there is no rattle. I might try the tension screw down the road just too see what it does.
5) All of the lower controls felt good. The rifle has an ambi safety and a Norgon ambi mag release. I am right handed and left eye dominant so I shoot my rifles left handed.
6) I really like the Ergo tactical grip. It is nice and fat and has just the right amount of tackiness. I like the feel of the palm shelf which is adjustable.
7) This my second AR with a Magpul PRS stock. I highly recommend it for any precision AR. It makes it so easy to get fitted to the scope.
8) The Larue Tactical scope mount is a no brainer. It really is the best mount for putting highpower glass on an AR. Gets the scope far enough forward.
9) The Larue version of the Harris Bi-pod works well. It attaches via a picatinny rail. It has a larger knob to adjust the tension on the swivel.
10) Here is a feature I wasn't thrilled with. I bought the Timney 3 lb skeletonized trigger which was a little dissappointing. I don't think is was close to 3 lbs. It felt much heavier. It broke cleanly with very little creep, but it felt too heavy. I have other Timney triggers (not the skeletonized version) that seem better and weren't as expensive. I have heard that Timney triggers can be inconsistent.

excellent rig! I had a 308 build that looked simular to yours but I had to sell it. not sure if mine shot as well as yours seems to be doing
