Great rifle ya got. Only thing left is to turn that .308 barrel into a nightstick and put on a .260 Rem on instead.

Haha, I am kidding. Okay not really. Is it a modified .308 match chamber at least?

Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade. I'm just saying, by the time the bullet gets out to those ranges where you see the difference of having an AI AW versus a Remington, the .308's BC will have cost you energy and velocity that you would have kept with a .260 bullet, or other long-range caliber.

ACBMWM3, is the rifle made by AI or is it a custom action/barrel in an AICS? If it's a custom action/barrel, how about some details. What scope do you have on there too?

I have two AI clones, one in .308 Win and one in .300 Win Mag. They're not "real" AI rifles but they sure do shoot well. The AICS stock (or AI stock) is possibly the best stock on the planet. It's ergonomic, adjustable, practical, rigid and comfortable (a brilliant design really) ... kind of makes it hard to shoot anything else!

Since those small diameter bullets are supposed to be so good at long range, I have to wonder why the US and British military units use .308 Win, .300 Win Mag and .338 Lapua for long range work. Makes me wonder if they're just good for winning shooting matches but not much else.

NIKON TACTICAL 2.5-10X44

ACBMWM3, congratulations on a fantastic rifle! My hope is to one day own a genuine AI in .338 Lapua. What bullet are you planning on shooting out of the AW?

:)

I really like the A-MAX bullet ... I'm shooting 178gr in the .308 Win and 208gr in the .300 Win Mag.

Hopefully you'll report back after you've been to the range. Don't forget to shoot a group, bounce the butt on the concrete and shoot another group ... that's what they do on the AI website ... very impressive!! :D

I've been to the AI factory in England and taken a tour of the facilities (courtesy of Graeme). I met their testing equipment ... an ex Para sniper. :D

:)

you know, with that kind of setup, it is almost irrelevant what you are shooting out of that thing. you get what you paid for, and i assume you know what youre doing with that thing.

i am honestly green with jealous rage

Wow.....

That is an awesome weapon there. If I ever win a lot of money, thats one of the rifles I am buying.

I think you should probably donate it to the poor, that would be me.. I need a good sniper gun like this :p

You gotta remember I was in the marines. Im used to a M24 sniper system in .308/7.62x51 NATO

Ah, ACBMWM3, I hate to tell you this, but the Marines use the M40 sniper rifle, and have never used the Army's M24. Nice stick, by the way.
