I just got my new gun to the range today. Thanks to those who responded to my post about .380 JHPs.
The 83 is solidly built and has a pretty decent blue finish. The somewhat thick grip feels good in my hand. It's a 12+1 so plenty of firepower for a compact handgun. Appearance is nice even with the black plastic grip panels. The gun is supplied with 2 magazines, a cleaning rod, bore brush and a snap cap. Typical blue plastic case and gun lock.
Like most hi-cap magazines it's a job to load all 12 rounds but not as bad as some. Loading my 9mm M&P is much tougher.
At the firing line I filled both mags with Magtech FMJs. Double action pull is surprisingly smooth and not too heavy. Single action is smooth and around 5 lbs but feels like three inches of creep. I guess I'm too used to S&W revolver triggers.
At seven yards all 24 rounds were about 3 inches low and 2 inches left and grouped into about 2 1/2 inches, offhand.
Next I loaded both mags with Remington Golden Sabres. Elevation was dead on at seven yards and about 1 inch to the left. Two different groups measured less than two inches.
Feeding, firing and ejection were flawless with both ammo types in this admittedly limited test.
My trigger finger got bit twice (minor) and I'm not sure why.
All in all a very successful first test. I'm happy.
