Just poured the walls for my gun vault. It is 28x36 under my garage. 1 foot walls all around. Will be fireproof when I get done. Have to pour the cap in a couple weeks yet. I'm getting pretty excited about it. Just had to share

That is awesome! Good for you. I'm sure you'll enjoy that for years to come.

Nice! If you can (OP Sec and all that) please post more as you go along. I'd love to see them.

Would like to be able to do the same thing. How thick does the cap need to be to support everything above?

I am doing 7 inch. Running 2 8x8x1/2 h beam that are 9' apart. Im pouring onto tin that is made for concrete forming. Running 5/8 rebar in the trough of every panel and 1 mat of 1/2 rebar in 1' squares. I also poured 12" walls with a 6" brick ledge on the inside. Will also lay a mat of real heavy wire

The rebar sticking out the top is also going to be bent over to be poured into the cap also. Have over 5600 feet of 1/2" rebar in the total edition so far. Will get more pics tomorrow. I should have around $20/ft in basement. That is before finishing it. Have done most of the work myself with the exception of the walls. Have bought all the supplies myself instead of doing it thru a contractor

Nice Reck room!!! Should be able to withstand all except graboids. I suspect that you already have that angle covered also.

I wish I was able to to do something glide this. I would not have the skills nor the funds. Very neat.

Could that double as a safe room by any chance?

Are you going to have any HVAC or communications/electrical/water, or is that too much?

Anyway, fantastic project, good work by you!

I put a spot in the wall that I will bring electrical, phone, maybe water, etc thru and another spot to the outside to use for a mini split system. Will fireproof caulk after I run everything thru.

Nope it's a smith security. Just got it Friday. Went with their heavy model with some extra goodies in it. Inward swing. It looks good from what I can see if it on the pallet.

Drain in floor of the room that runs to a sump in the next room over. Still debating running a water line into it for maybe a sink or to a fridge with ice maker. Haven't decided on that yet

Here's a pic of the stair case spot in the rear. I opted for a second way out. This will act as a storm shelter first. I doubt I'll ever need it but it is there for piece of mind

Will be redoing the house fall of next yr. "phase 2". All but tearing it down for the remodel.

Did they use water stop between the footing and walls before they poured the walls? Be sure to tar the form ties after you break them off. Go ahead and add the water line, you don't have to hook it up or use it but it doesn't take much to do stand will be there if you decide later you want it. Looks great.

Update

Well after some hard thinking I decided to make another room that is strictly for guns/reloading. Instead of it being one room I am turning it into 3. Gun vault, closet, man cave. Here are some more pics
