Well, I didn't have a bolt action rifle, and I wanted one. One of the best things about it was its price tag at Dick's: $280. So I got one in .270.
Then I read about the new Redfields. Picked up a 2-7x33 on gunbroker for $121. Made by Leupold, made in America, lifetime warranty, how can you pass that up?
Leupold mounting system, scope and base for $25.
With tax and shipping and whatnot, I have about $450 in this gun.
With some adjusting of the scope, I was able to make it do this at 100 yards:
I was using Federal red box, $15 a pop at WalMart, 130 grain. 1.25" from side to side.
I was curious to see where it would hit at 50 yards when it was sighted in at 100. I knew .270 was flat shooting, but:
All in all, I think we have a winner.
