My new Model 10

I finally got my first revolver. I have wanted a Model 10 since I was a kid and finally located one at the right price and condition from a former rifle coach of mine.

I took it out to the range Yesterday and wow I couldn't believe the accuracy out of a fixed sight revolver. My reloads were putting rounds through the same hole, its like I couldn't miss. This little gun may make me have to start collection S&W Revolvers

That's how most of us got started with our S&W collections. It just takes that ONE... soon, you'll have a safe full.

Comrade Mike, what is the barrel length? Just curious. I had a beautiful near new condition LEO Trade In and like an idiot I 'traded' it. Was not my most accurate gun. And do you reload equivilent to a Plus "P" charge? Finally, what was your target distance and will you provide a picture?

I have two loads that work great in this gun. 4.6 Grains of Win231 under a 125 grain Raineer Plated FP, standard pressure load. And 3.7 grains of 231 under a 158 grain laser cast RNFP, this is the max from the lee manual but still standard pressure. Gun seems to like the 125's a little better. I was shooting at about 10 yards, Ill put up a group in a bit.

This is a 4 inch gun, Ill post some pictures when I put my new houge grip on it. The stock grips are just too slippery for me to really get the most out of this fine revolver.

The Model 10 is the premier, no-nonsense .38.

Here's my 10-5, a serviceable nightstand revolver. I've dressed this one in bird's-eye maple.

The Model 10's are great revolvers. The handle exceptionally well and give really good accuracy. In my opinion for what people usually pay for them they are one of the best guns on the market. They are no nonsense revolver that still manages lots of class. Hard to find that these days.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Fixed sights are just as accurate as adjustable sights. It's just that adjustable sights are easier to use.
