My new, rare Colt!!!!!!

This is my new Colt Officers Special .22LR. I just picked this up on Saturday for $550. The fit and finish is suburb! I ran 18 rounds of Federal American Eagle through it on Sunday and I was able to put most of the rounds into a dime at 15yds.

It isn't the best picture of the muzzle since I just cleaned it and it is a little wet.:banghead:

I guess you know those aren't original stocks. Thought I would mention it just in case. I would have bought it and spent the next 5 years looking for stocks!

Are those the original sights to the revolver?

They look a bit "clunky" to me but apparently give a good sight picture.

Nice Colt with CDNN (fake) grips. Colt shape but S&W checkering style. Check with the Colt forum to find out the right grips. Then check gunbroker or Ebay to see if they have them. Colts with wooden stocks should have Colt stocks. Even with this it is a great catch.

Very pretty. I had to range qualify at the gun club a month ago, and had to borrow an Officer's Match Model very similar to that, after I forgot my clips on top of the safe (senior moment !). Put them all well within the black except the first shot (light trigger !). Very nice reminder of the glory days of Colt. I believe you made a fine purchase.

The trigger is Python good and yes, those are the original sights. They are called ColtMaster and they only used them on that revolver and the some Woodsman Match guns. I really like the sight picture my Gold Cup has with the Ellison sights, but I may like these a little more. I'll have to play with them a little bit more before I determine which I like more. They certainly seem robust. I'll post some better pics when I get home.

I don't care for the grips too much and I will be picking up a set of Colt grips with the medallion as soon as I can afford to. Those grips cover up the little horsie.

The correct stocks would be the checkered plastic stocks. While not really rare the OMS is a transition from the OMT to the OMM. It was only made for a few years so numbers are limited.

Grips

I was wondering if "ColtWood" (plastic) stocks may have come standard on the OMS, and that Walnut would have been an option. I would prefer wood with medallions, but I had forgotten that Colt was in a plastic grips phase after WWII.

Unfortunately, Colt was mixing and matching old stock parts after the war making research on the E/I frames problematic. I don't think that that necessarily applies to a specialty item such as the OMS, but you never know. I may have to get a factory letter to find out what it had from the factory.
