I hope to get a pic up soon, but I just bought a brand new (really) Yugoslavian/Egyptian 8mm Mauser. They were made by the Yugo's for the Egyptians, but Egypt pulled out of the deal and the Yugo's had all of these perfect rifles sitting around in a warehouse for years and years. The rifle is beautiful, and absolutely nothing is wrong with it in any way, shape or form.I'm dying to get out to the range this weekend with the 800 rounds of ammo I bought and try her out.

I decided against not with the 8mm over a Mauser because the Enfield's wer enot only much more beat up, but also the .303 British ammo is far more expensive and far more rare.

True on the Enfield. I just got an Enfield from AIM and I'm going to use Behr's #600 TOF on the stock tonight (just cleaned it and am drying it). I'm not really rushing to get it put back together because I don't have any .303 British ammo right now. I did order some dies, brass, and bullets though, so I can handload some. I'll probably pick up some Winchester hunting ammo, too.

As far as 8mm, I bought 700 round of Turkish Mauser from J&G for $40 or so after shipping. It's pretty dirty stuff but I've had no problems with them. Some people claim they get neck splits and what not, but the stuff I have seems to work fine. IIRC, mine are headstamped with 1948.

You may also want to try out the Romanian 8mm that AIM is selling. 380 rounds for $30. Made in the early 70s. The guys on Parallax's C&R Forum love the stuff.

If you bought surplus ammo it's corrosive. That's not a problem unless you don't know it ahead of time.

Do a search and you'll probably find more than you ever wanted to know about cleaning after corrosive ammo.
