The pics look like absolute crap, but it's a feather AT-22. The upper reciever is some funky turqoise color, as is one of the barrel shrouds. It came with a black shroud with holes in it also, a bull barrel, a regular barrel, 2 20rd. magazines, carrying case, aimshot laser, and some cheap knock-off red dot sight.

I've wanted one of these things since I was a little kid. And after putting about 400 rounds through it the past two days on a camping trip, I've pretty much made up my mind to sell it and buy another 10/22.

I got it used, but it looked in decent shape. I didn't know anything about them when I bought it either, other than the fact that they look cool, and the funky green aluminum stuff mixed with lasers and red dots meant there was no way that I could walk away from it.

For starters, the "20 rd. mags" are a real bastard to load. I also haven't been able to get more than 16 in either before giving up.

The laser that I thought was so cool, wasn't bright enough to show up at the salamanders I was shooting at in a pond in the sun. By the time I had went somewhere else to shoot, the batteries on it were completely dead, probably because the button for it is on the forend grip, and the gun is too big to fit in it's travel case with all that extra crap on it, so it was riding around with the laser on the whole time.

The red dot sight worked alright, for awhile. I sighted the gun shooting offhand at first, and it was fairly accurate. I tried putting it on paper and sighting it in better yesterday, and now it's further off than it was before. I tried both barrels, and never could get more than one shot on a target about the size of a CD from about 25 yards. It was almost dark when I was doing this, so I didn't have much time either. Hopefully that was the problem. The problem might also be the fact that I'm a lousy shot, but that doesn't excuse the gun's other problems.

These things only weigh about 3 pounds according to their website. I thought it would make an ideal backpacking gun because of it. So, I attached the sling to the swivel in the bottom of the foregrip, and then tried finding somewhere else to mount the other one. There isn't another sling thingie on it. I ended up running the sling through the inside of the metal stock, which seemed to work good at first, until I found out that the stock doesn't lock in place hardly at all, and if you let go of the gun and count on the sling to support it's weight, it'll fall. Then I pulled the stock off, and ran the sling through the hole that the stock slides into. But then I got to thinking that that might be illegal to carry it like that, since it's classified as a rifle, and some cop might call it an illegal pistol or something without the stock on it, so I ended up just carrying it the whole time, without a sling.

The stock's a joke too. It only adjusts about one inch. The foregrip is hollow, so it was obviously made to retract all the way into the grip and take up less space, as I have seen in pics of them before, but my stock is beveled where it won't do it. Unless you already have the stock all the way pushed in, it will move when you put it up to your shoulder, because it doesn't lock securely. It's super flimsy too, and if it was chambered in a rifle caliber or something, it would bend very easily.

This thing jams! I've never seen anything like it in my life. Sometimes it will go through 10 or 11 rounds with no problems, but most of the time it jams at least every 2 or 3 shots, and sometimes every other shot. I seen a black bear while hiking with it, and I was real glad that the bear was more scared of me than I was of it, because my gun doesn't inspire much confidence for bear protection, and it's too light and fragile to use as a club once it malfunctions and gets me mauled by a vicious animal.

Sometimes it won't chamber a round, like the feed angle is wrong or something. It stovepipes terrible. It smashes empty cases flat when they get stuck sideways, it almost knocks the bullets out of the top of case when it gets jammed sometimes. I had to use a screwdriver several times to pry cases out of the chamber and stuff. One was stuck so bad that the case was cut on both sides down the middle from me trying to pry it out. I'm really amazed I didn't mess the gun up just trying to unstick rounds.

I'm hugely disappointed with it. I expected some problems, but I didn't expect to spend 80% my time shooting it, to be fixing it's malfunctions. Out of about 400 rounds, it literally messed up about 45 of them so bad that they would no longer feed, or I just wouldn't trust shooting them in my gun again. I was shooting federal 36 grain copper HPs by the way.

It feels super cheap too. Everything is either plastic or aluminum.

The only good thing about it so far, is the fact that's light, easy to assemble/disassemble, and it looks cool. Other than that, this thing is such a malfunctioning piece of crap that it makes my tec-9 look like a glock.

Hopefully my experience with it isn't the same as other people's experiences with feather carbines, because if they were half way reliable, they'd make a really fun and easy to carry hiking gun.

I also got a walther p22 the same day, which I love, but I'll post about it in the other section.

Thanks for the heads up, I came across their website once and thought that they looked cool, but the photos of the guns just screamed junk... I chalked it up to bad aesthetics, but again, thanks for the heads up.
As far as a backpacking .22 goes... perhaps a Ruger Charger? It's a Ruger 10/22 pistol.

I had the same experiences with their 9mm version. Sent it back several times thinking maybe it was just a mess up at the factory. Still doesn't work no matter what ammo I try. I have also bought several of their mags for it thinking maybe I had a bad mag. Now I don't waste money on it anymore. It just sits in my safe, scorned for the rest of its life. I don't want to sell it because that would be a real jerk move on my part passing along my problems onto someone else.

I have very rarely seen anyone say anything good about them.

They are junk. You can gold plate a turd, but its still a turd. Same with these guns. they look cool, and all, but that is were the fun ends.

Excellent review. I've never heard of these rifles and when I looked at the pictures you posted, I honestly wondered why someone was showing pics of a paintball gun in a real gun forum.

I don't want to sell it because that would be a real jerk move on my part passing along my problems onto someone else.

I disagree. When I buy guns, I consider it an investment. I don't have the money to be throwing hundreds of dollars around without lots of research. Thats how I avoid getting crappy guns like this. I broke my rules once and did an impulse buy, and I've regretted that particular purchase ever since. So if someone wants to buy your crappy gun, let them learn the lesson for themselves. otherwise, your conscience is taking up valuable space in your safe.
