Hi all,

Just posting my new toy, a New Ultra Light Arms model 20 in .308 Win. Total weight with scope is just less than 5.5 lbs. At first the action was slightly stiff, but after cycling/dry firing about 100 times it now feels like polished glass. The Timney trigger is set at 3 pounds and breaks super clean with no over travel.

I shot it for the first time yesterday. The recoil was surprisingly pleasant. It was more comfortable than my previous .308, a Savage Weather Warrior. I was never able to fire more than 20 rounds in a sitting before it became uncomfortable with the Savage. I went through 100 rounds with this rifle (slowly with cleaning after shots 3, 6, 9, 20, 30, 50, and 100) and today my shoulder does not have the same “work out” feeling as I would have expected. From the moment you pick it up, the rifle feels like it just wants to fly to your shoulder and shoot! The nearest comparison I can make is to a Kimber M-84. If you have handled one and thought it was a sweet little rifle, this is the same only after going through puberty and reaching 21 (OK, an incredibly misogynistic analogy but it works for me).

I am attaching my best target of the day, 150 gr. Win. Fail Safe Factory loads. It also shot my loose packed 147 gr. FMJ Brit. NATO surplus ammo into 1 to 1.5 inch groups depending on my level of concentration. The attached scope is a Trijicon 1.25 – 4 X Accupoint. Due to the post reticle and low magnification, it makes a great big game scope but is a real PITA for fine grouping on paper at distance.

I sold a bunch of safe queens and waited about 4 months for this rifle and am glad I did. I have owned Sakos, Swedish Mausers, Winchesters and Remingtons and this beats them all in smoothness, accuracy and “shootability” (YMMV).
