Already getting the itch for another wheel gun. I've got 2 (GP and SP). This time, I'm looking for a SA. I've got two in mind that are on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

1) The new Single Ten. Please, no wise-acre remarks about looks, non-traditional sites, etc. :D I like this gun and will buy it eventually. Unless I opt for the single six conv. but I don't think I'll ever use the 22 mag cyl. which is why I have the Single Ten as the first choice.

2) Super Blackhawk .44mag in 5.5". I've always wanted one of these. Will pack it in bear territory on fishing trips in the northern states.

Practical and wiser side says Single Ten for the ultimate cheap plinking/rabbit hunting fun. I would definitely use it more.

My dark side says my next gun needs more boom. .22's are sissy guns and I need to blow 3" holes in stuff.

But I'm still leaning towards the Single Ten. I think it will be a super fun gun and I will get more use out of it. Ammo is cheap, too (I do hand load, so 44 mag/spec. won't ding my wallet TOO bad. I'd like to get both, but well, no go for now. I do plan on getting the other one in a year or two.

Maybe you should consider the middle ground, perhaps a Blackhawk in .357/.38/9mm? Best of all worlds wrapped up in one single revolver! Pictures of whatever you choose!:)

I'd opt for the .22lr - only because you've got presumably 2x .357mag guns already. Sure the 44 is even bigger, but unless you face a brown bear or rabid moose your GP100 will work as a woods gun.

That's what I would do... (BTW: I own a 6" gp100 and it's my hiking gun)

Dude, you don't understand how it works. It's not an "itch for another wheel gun." It's a compusive urge to own every revolver you don't already possess. The sooner you admit it the closer you are on the road to recovery.

In for a penny, in for a pound. Go all the way to .500 S&W :D

I feel your pain as I recently found decent used condition guns from Ruger. I got both an older Single Six as well as completing my recently started .44Mag duo of a Super Redhawk with a shortened barrel and a 7.5 inch Super Blackhawk by tripping over a deal on the SB.

Both the SS and the SB are superb guns and great fun. The SS in particular is helping me to find the proper grip style for SA revolvers which has eluded me for some time. And as you mentioned it's just good cheap fun. And of course the SB is just plain fun to make big sounds and feel all that power.

... I guess I wasn't much help at all, was I :D Um... Toss a coin?

You KNOW you'll be buying the "other" one soon enough anyway. So get the one you want to use the soonest.

Ha!! .500! That would be sweet. :D

My GP and SP are both .357. I want to diversify! :) So I think I'll go with the Single Ten.

Smurf - How are you carrying your GP? Mine's also a 6". My favorite revolver. Action is so much smoother than my SP (both factory stock).

fox and BCrider - you guys get me. BFAM.*

There's another closely associated side of this condition as well;

SOS - Shiney Object Syndrome

On a bicycle forum I also frequent, hence my username along with having a few motorcycles, they call it N+1. In other words it doesn't matter how many you have now, the "N", the right answer is that you always need N+1.

Note that there are no smileys in this post as this is a serious condition that afflicts folks like us. It leads to lost sleep, random periods of excitement at the prospect of adding that elusive "+1" and serious depression when told that "you already have enough" or " we need the money for....". This conditon also leads to financial hardships of other sorts when the urge to buy toys results in the domicle becoming inadequite to house all the toys in a proper manner. Suddenly you're out shopping, with a highly confused but nonetheless ecstatic wife, for a bigger place with more room for storage and workshops.

It's a sickness I tell ya, a serious sickness..... but I've got more toys than the rest of you and just moved into a bigger house last year so I'm winning.... :D

My vote goes for the Super Blackhawk... It's on my own list for my upcoming trips to go for Feral Hog with my brother in law.

Caliber is still up in the air... I seem to find plenty of them locally in .44mag, but I'd prefer a .45 Colt one to go with my existing loading setups.

Though the more I see people talk about 'em... a .41 mag has at least my peripheral interest.

And yes. SAddiction can ruin your life... Your semi-automatics will cry themselves to sleep wondering who's grips you've been fondling.

I have a very decent pancake holster from Simply Rugged.

I could use a sturdier belt if I were to bring it on multi-day excursions. Right now I'm quite happy for day trips. My only complaint is sitting down with a 6" hogleg. Kind of awkward if you climb into canoes or vehicles.

What exactly are your intentions hunting, plinking, or just want? Since you have two .357's get the .22, if it is for hunting I'd skip the .44 and get a .41 mag blackhawk. I love my new .41 Ruger BH, I just got a Simply Rugged Range Master holster for it as well as 100pc of Star Line brass today:D This makes my 4th Holster from Simply Rugged if that tells you anything.

SA bug bit me recently and I cured it with this Lipsey's Ruger. It shoots 45LC and a cylinder for 45 ACP. Shoots like a dream, and the ACP rounds are a little cheaper to shoot more often. Great gun.

I HAVE THIS COMPULSIVE URGE!

I have a SBH 7.5 barrel and really enjoy it. Since you handload, it can shoot mild to wild, and wild in .44mag is enough for me. I actually plan on trying it out deer hunting this year.

If you want a single action, maybe look at Magnum Research BFRs. They're in 500SW, 460SW, 475Linebaugh, etcetera. All of the fun calibers. Bud's Guns has them for about 825 (I think). I know it's about 300 more than the SB, but just thought I'd toss it out.
