What bullet weights are ideal for the 45 colt? With the 1 in 30 twist. I have some 200 grain SWC coated cast on hand too.
It's generally not a bad idea to use what you have. Some supply stores sell box's of 100 so you can try others like I do. I use a 230gr for 45 auto and 45 colt. I've never seen a time that starting a rifle 45 colt at max wasn't a good idea to get it out the long barrel

I'll run the same data i use for my SW 25. I do use 230 grain RN is the Smith. But they were a little long to feed from the tube on the rifle. Im glad i bought some of the 250 grain flat nose along that day. That way there is no risk of mixing up hot loads with standard loads.

I found my Rossi has some issues with the 200 grain bullets. Got some keyholes with them so I went to 255 grains. Both weights were RNFP. I load medium range. Found the chamber a little bit on the bigger size. Get blowback on some of the loads from chamber not fully sealing. I wear glasses for that. Its really not bad. Don't see the same with my 1873, my roller or my Marlin.

Yeah i would love to try the 285 grain bullets. Sorry i didn't get back until now. I been getting as much done as i can before my surgery. Im getting a new knuckle in my middle finger.
