Another thing: I think we (male pro-gun types) do alot of self inflicted damage with the "feminist" crowd.
How many "what gun to buy for a female" threads get started on THR? In many of them I see it implied that a female shooter isn't smart enough to use a semi-auto, or strong enough to shoot anything bigger than a .22LR. It's insulting. Wouldn't a "what gun should I buy for a male" thread be pretty stupid? So why is it that nobody feels that way about female shooters? I used to be guilty of this myself I think I've started one or two "what to get for the wife" threads but I've since learned the error or my ways...
Another thing I've seen alot of is guys making fun of a girl's choice in firearm. My wife carries a Glock 42. Not because she's madly in love with the .380 caliber, but because it FITS. She's short (5 foot 3 inch) and has small hands with short fingers. On larger caliber pistols or double stack pistols, her finger is literally not long enough to reach the trigger. So she has good reason for choosing this particular gun. Whenever we're in a gun shop or at an IDPA match (she shoots "bug" division) and somebody asks her "what gun is that?" or "what do you carry?" and she says "G42", 98% of the time a guy will react with something like "why don't you carry a real gun like a .45?" or "it will just make an attacker angry if you shoot them with that little gun".
A little background here: it's taken me YEARS to get her from "I've never shot a gun before in my life" to "I carry a gun every day". And every time I hear some guy make a stupid comment to discourage her, it takes every ounce of control I have to not punch him in the face.
