I just saw the following on a Ruger forum:

My wife is finally considering a Ruger Revolver, but under one condition: I need to find pink grips for it. Does anyone know where I can find pink grips for a GP100?

I'm all for women owning and using guns, seeing how they are key to securing 2A as half of the voting population. I'm just wondering how women feel about pink guns. I saw an ad for a pistol that's almost entirely pink in the most recent Cabela's ad. There is Charter Arms that has made an entire business out of light-weight defensive revolvers -- available in all sorts of pretty colors like "Lavender Lady" just in case pink fails to do it for a particular lady.

This makes me wonder how do female shooters actually feel about pink guns? Do serious shooters who just happen to be women think their guns need to be pink? Or do even female shooters look at such guns and think they look silly?

Do bad guys take a woman with a pink gun quite as seriously as they would a woman holding a gun in more typical colors like black & stainless? Do they figure a woman really serious about guns isn't going to carry a pink or lavender one as if it were a fashion accessory instead of a tool for use in a life & death situation?

Curious what your thoughts are, be you a woman or your wife or GF is into guns.

what ever floats your boat i suppose......

i mean, there are people who like the look of stainless, blued, two-tone, people who custom paint theirs in a plethora of colours to suit their taste........what is pink but another colour?

If I had a dollar for everytime I read "I would not buy that gun, despite its cost, reliabilty and accuracy because it is so ugly..." I could buy a new gun.

MANY people, both men and women buy guns because of asthetics. No reason why women are different than men.

Do you think that a badguy is going to disregard a 38spl bullet because the gun it was fired from had pink grips?

I hate the pink hats in sports as much as the next guy, but I think that if it encourages women to buy guns then it is a good thing.

AND - My daughters both shoot and they prefer their guns in black. IT goes good with everything.

I remember a trapshooter that painted his stock a gawd-awful red and white candy stripe. I guess it was easily identified in the gun rack at the club. No one ever picked it up by mistake, that's for sure.

My only concern about the pink guns is that to me they look like they are toys...esp some of the colored youth guns (chipmunk).
That sends chills down my spine!

It's not a woman thing, it's a people thing. As evidence I will point out that a hunter wearing a neon orange coat and hat might demand a camo stock for his shiny stainless gun not to blend in to the trees, but as a fashion statement. And need I mention "tactical" black?

My wife didn't want an AR-15 because they were mean looking until she saw a purple Sun Devil. Now she has an AR-15. Win-win.

That's an unanswerable question since we don't have any BGs on the forum.

My wife isn't interested in pink guns, but she doesn't own anything pink outside of a scarf or two anyway and all her guns were purchased before pink guns became available.

My daughter has a purple and pink tiger strip AR, but isn't interested in any particular color on firearms any more.

None of the women I've taught to shoot have had any interest in pink firearms, but they're all interested in developing defensive shooting skills (and most are scientists/engineers/medical pros) and a bit more advanced than casually interested buyers.

Considering that, it is all a matter of what people like.

Whatever works and a person enjoys. Probably a ton of ivory grips, engraved SS handguns and long guns with personalized symbols owned by anyone that can afford them.

I don't have or want pink guns, but I have two pink shooting accessories: a locking hard case for transporting my gun, and a locking pencil box for ammo. Range bag is a black patent purse. I do have pearlized grips, white pearl for the nickel and black pearl for the blue. I do love pink, but it is an accessory color for me.

I don't think the other shooters think I'm any less serious, especially when they see me recording my training plan, marking my targets, and making notes for the next session of shooting. The older guys are always the nicest, and many get a kick out of my old-school .22 practice revolver.

Like with the candy-cane striped rifle previously mentioned, nobody ever mistakes their things for mine at the range. :)

My wife informed me that if I bought her a pink gun she'd shoot me with it. So, I stay away from them. :D

If she wants pink, I see no reason to convince her otherwise. The BG isn't going to pause and check out her grips should she ever need to use it.

My ex-wife loves pink, and wouldn't hesitate in owning a pink gun.

My girlfriend just isn't a pink loving girl, unless it's a breast cancer thing. She does love orange, though. She'd absolutely love it if I slapped some orange furniture on my AR for her.

So in my eyes, it is no different with men or women. We like what we like. I love a set of custom, exotic wood grips....but my buddy (who will own any handgun so long as it is a glock) thinks they are just the most silly and frivolous things he has ever seen. If a color to her liking gets her slinging lead downrange more often, well that's a win-win for the both of you. :)

Both of my daughters have pink guns. They like them. My current girlfriend likes the pink guns.

My ex-wife is a deputy, and her duty weapon is a Julie Goloski M&P9 with the pink backstrap installed. It's no different than than a chromed out man toy.

Yep. Personal tastes can be funny that way.

Edit:: I was unaware of the M&P JG. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have a friend in the market for a semi auto and she may like that.

We gun owners can be a finicky lot.

Some of us have pink grips. Others of us own gold plated Desert Eagles. When last I checked, there were about 5 or 6 basic AR color themes, then there's companies that will sell you whatever color you want. Then there's wood stocks to outfit that AR. There's just no accounting or discounting for taste it seems.

I personally don't care what any male or female friends purchase or shoot. Just as long as they keep supporting the 2a, I'm happy. :)

I have no problem with the concept of colored guns, but that horrid shade of Pepto-Bismol pink is just repulsive lol. I wouldn't buy a pink gun unless it was a deal so good I couldn't pass it up. If someone gave me a pink gun as a gift, I'd say "thank you" and enjoy it at the range. I'd buy a colored gun if they ever came up with a color I like.

My favorite color, in general, is navy blue, so I've never had a problem finding a gun in a color I like.

My lady has at least 3 pink guns. In fact I am starting to run out of production model guns in pink to purchase for her. She loves them, I love to see her shoot. Its a win - win.

IIRC, the NSSF did a survey of women who already are shooters and most didn't like pink guns. Don't quote me - I'd have to look it up again.

I do have friends who have wives who have guns but aren't shooters and they like them.

Might be an expert vs. non-expert split.

my wife wants a pink Hello Kitty AR-15. For no reason other than it has Hello Kitty on it. I said, "well, you can get a regular AR and PUT a Hello Kitty sticker on it, and then it won't look like pepto-bismal, and would probably be much less expensive..".. and she replies, "Yeah, but then it wouldn't be authentic."

She hates pink, though.

haha my wife has a s&w airweight with the pink grips!

but i look at it like this, she was completely opposed to having a gun until i took her into the gun shop and showed her that beauty. Good thing is, it also came with black grips so if i'm having a day where i'm not secure in my manhood i can change the grips.

My wife and my brothers wife both complain about their being a lack of selection for women shooters. I told my wife if she wants pink then we'll find pink, I she wants purple then that's what we will do. She ended up with a "Raspberry" LCP, everybody's happy.
