With USPSA winding down I want to try the steel challenge next year. I'll use my S&W 952. Am I correct in understanding it would be in the 'enhanced service pistol' division, since it is SAO? I assume I need a holster, but no mag holders, correct? I've noticed some posts indicate a good holster for that model is the Safariland 560. I checked their site and found NO holster for the 952. Any suggestions would be most helpful, since I've decided to use the 952 for steel challenge competition only.

Not one of my games, but since SCSA does recognize IDPA Divisions, and M952 being a single action auto of other than .45 ACP caliber, you would indeed fall under Enhanced Service Pistol.

I have a Safariland 560 holster, it has two side adjustments and one back edge adjustment that positions a roller against the dust cover. Mine is the 4.5" model and it has enough adjustment that I have used it with CZ75 and P210 with good retention. Get the one listed for 5" autos and it would likely adjust to your 952.

Otherwise, Blade-Tech will make a Sting Ray holster for S&W M952.

You will be able to compete in Open, Limited, or IDPA ESP Divisions with the S&W 952. While the Safariland holster will work the Blade Tech would probably be a better choice because it should be a little faster on the draw and the Steel Challenge require's a fast draw to be competitive. You don't need magazines pouches but they are helpful. Otherwise you will be reloading with your shooting bag between strings which slows things down a little.

Thanks guys. Regarding the Safariland holster 560, I called and it was replaced with the 568 and the maker has no holster designed for the S&W 952. :(

Where are you shooting Steel Challenge in Ohio? Circleville?

(952...hmmm, is this Skip?)

The divisions at the Circleville match are:

- Stock Auto (non open guns)
- Open Auto (red dots or comps/port)

- Stock Revolver
- Open Revolver

- .22 rimfire
- .22 rimfire Open

- and, recently Pistol Caliber Carbine

Yes, Kyle it's me. Actually, I'm having a problem with my 952. In fact, I'm waiting for it to be returned from S&W. I'll PM you with the facts.
