My scope bottomed out

Get a hobby soldering iron. Put the tip in the head of the screw and let it sit for a bit till it gets hot.

You can even heat it, spray with PB, let it cool, heat it, PB, cool, etc.. to loosen it

Another vote for the Burris signature zee rings. I have a set mounted on a Thompson/Center R55 Benchmark with a Bushnell Tactical Elite scope:

As other posters have advised, you need to get the inserts separately.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1...fset-inserts-installation-kit-005-010-and-020

If your point of impact is too high, you can try using this combination of inserts as a start:

On the lower half of the front ring: +0.020"
On the upper half of the front ring: -0.010"
On the lower half of the rear ring: -0.020"
On the upper half of the rear ring: +0.010"

I agree with the guy who said get a Picatinny rail. In your case you will get the added advantage of being able to bring the front ring closer to the rear ring, which when combined with the effect of the Burris inserts will give you even more elevation correction.

Of course, it is also possible that your problem gets solved just by having a Picatinny rail and a standard set of rings. If you have a standard set of rings maybe you can try those first, if you go the way of the Picatinny rail.

Ha... I just got the base off. I took troy's advise and it worked great. Heated up the base with a heat gun and pounded in a torx bit.. no problem.

I'm definately on the hunt for new base and rings. Here's a pic of the rifle aux natural.

that's great that way sounds a little bubba but it works. if u go to a weaver style base i got 1 inch low weaver grand slam rings u can have they would be good for your 2x7.

Since when is a one-piece steel base in the standard style sub-par? (as long as it's the right one). It's one of the most solid rigs going. Only thing better is dual dovetail or one-piece rings like Talleys.

Keep in mind that *too much* shimming will bend your scope body. Shimming is a last resort - find out what's really wrong - correct base, good rings, etc.

Shimming a one piece base will not torque a scope tube at all. Shimming one of the bases on a two piece set does. I used to refuse to shim on a two piece base set up until two years ago when speaking to my old Leupold rep. According to Leupold it’s okay to use up to three of their shims on a front or rear base without causing damage or affecting the operation of their scopes. I still prefer not to do it but did once in a pinch with no adverse effects.

I agree with you about the solidness of one piece bases.
