and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I had just talked myself out of getting one for me, and then we went shooting yesterday. The ACOG is even more impressive out in the open. What an optic. I also appreciated that it functioned perfectly even when I wore my eyeglasses, which I usually remove for rifle.

I almost ordered one last night, but I think I have myself talked out of it for good now. My old eyes just aren't great for anything past 200 yards, and I already have a couple EOTechs, which I think are the best thing going for 150 yds and in. I'm so smitten with the ACOG I'm trying to justify a solution for a non-existent problem.

Very, very impressive, and if I was at a different point in my collection I would have picked one up for sure. A case where the performance absolutely justifies the expense.

I feel like you're lying to yourself if you don't believe you're not going to order one the next time you use it. So you might as well just order one :D

Acogs are amazing!

I've only looked through an ACOG 4x32 without firing the gun it was mounted to. Only $1100 to $1250 at the usual online sellers, right?

I was thoroughly impressed with the view through it, but at my age a focus ring for the reticle would be necessary if I spent any real time sighting targets through it.

I got a 4x32 ACOG a year ago. I was going back and forth between that and an Aimpoint. I’m really happy I made the choice I did. I’m cross-eye dominant, and even so it’s no problem acquiring targets and shooting with both eyes open. I really like having the magnification too. I feel your pain on the price, but the quality is really first-rate.

Could always try a more budget oriented prism optic, like Primary Arms as they have a good reputation, if you wanted to scratch that itch and not spend a fortune. Then if you decide you really want one down the road, foot for the ACOG.

I kind of feel like any money you'd spend on a prism would be better going toward an ACOG.
I am considering the magnifier for one of my EOTechs.

Which reticle? I had one with a triangle for a while. Sold it, don’t really miss it but I was never smitten with acog to begin with. I do think some of the other reticles would have suited me better, but I had what I had.

What is it you guys specifically like about an acog over eotech?

EOTech is _the_ fastest aimpoint for 200 yards and in. ACOG allows more precision past that while giving faster target acquisition close than an LPVO (IMO), and no battery to die on you.

I had an early Eotech that absolutely ate batteries. I haven’t kept up with them, but I’d hope they have gotten better in that regard. I did like it, but I’m fifteen years older now. I used to have 20/10 vision and I’m at around 20/30 now. I still don’t need glasses to drive, but the ACOG gives me another 150 yards of effective range easily.
I’m still able to shoot with both eyes open, which is a big plus. I like the ACOG reticle better (I have the green chevron) and I like that it self adjusts for ambient light. And, no batteries. I also like that it’s an American product.
If I had a PCC, I’d probably put an Eotech or Aimpoint on it, but that’s a moot point. The high price is really the only downside. It should also be kept in mind that the tritium tube is going to fade over time. I understand it’s not inexpensive to replace.
I do like mine very much.

they said the ACOG was instrumental in the battle for Fallujah. I always wanted one.

I ended up putting a EOTech and magnifier on my Bren 2, but I'm picking up something in 7.62x51 and that one is getting either a 3.5x35 ACOG or a Steiner LPVO.
