This thing is truly ugly, but it looks like a new rifle compared to what it did when I first got it. The idiot who had it before "practiced" his painting skills on it. And by practicing, I mean coating everything metal with a nice thick coat of Krylon, inside and out. Green paint was just as thick on the inside of the receiver as the outside. Took some scrubbing and brushing, but got the receiver cleaned up and smooth. Shoots great, but has a horrible trigger that has around 1.5 inches of creep in it. Barrel shows a little pitting, but has deep lands and grooves. Muzzle break isn't a cheap twist on, but is actually pinned on and gives it a mean appearance. It is a para-trooper model, but the break adds 2 inches thus making it the same length as my other SKS.
I left the green paint on the barrel for 2 reasons: 1) I don't have to oil it now, I can abuse it just a bit more (which is what I got it for), 2) I didn't feel like stripping it down after the mess in the receiver.
When I got it, it came with the stock and had no mag. I had to fish a bit but finally got a factory mag to put in it. This is one of my home defense guns, along with 5 stripper clips, that resides behind the headboard of my bed. Perfect for camping and such too. Its ugly, but I'm proud of it.
Here they are with some other home defense weapons. Just a random photo I took.
